The Panama Canal is about to open up for unheard of propane exports. "U.S. (LPG) exports would jump to 20 million metric tons by 2020 from the current 5 million tons, making the country the world's largest exporter of those fuels, ahead of Qatar and Saudi Arabia..." ( bloomberg.com)
The 5.25 Billion dollar project to widen the canal could be finished as early as October of this year.

Currently, the tanker class of Very Large Gas Carriers needed to transport LPG won't fit through the canal causing half of the world to be cut off from our supplies. The expansion project will fix that problem by widening the canal to allow these ships to transport all over the world, especially the Asian market.
