News BriefThe Reliable Home Heating Act passed the senate commerce committee and is headed to a vote in the entire senate. This bill will ensure Americans stay warm this coming winter by forcing the Energy Information Administration to give governors warnings of a propane shortage well before it happens. This will allow states to be ready and adapt accordingly with their plans to help keep citizens out of the cold. (hometownsource.com) President Obama is expected to make a decision this spring on the Keystone XL oil pipeline which would run from Alberta, Canada to Texas. The former president, Jimmie Carter, joined the opposition this week as he sent a letter asking the current president to "reject" the proposal. (cbc.ca) Wisconsin's propane shortage crisis isn't over. The governor, Scott Walker, has renewed his propane shortage declaration that allows propane delivery trucks to travel for longer hours and carry heavier loads. The new declaration lasts until April 26. (jsonline.com) Exxon is working towards repairing and re-opening the northern leg of their Pegasus pipeline. The northern section runs from Corsica, TX to Patoka, IL. In 2013 a section of the pipeline ruptured in Mayflower, AR causing the closure. The southern section received approval to restart operations, while the northern section with the rupture segment will be worked on well into 2015. (reuters.com)
