THE PROPANE CRISIS CONTINUES
The propane crisis of this heating season continues, and so long as it continues Thrifty will be here to meet the challenge. We thought ahead and planned ahead: so we have supply that other dealers do not. We have to travel farther and farther for supply, but get the job done. We keep watch over expenses and pass our savings on to you.
All of us who depend on propane supply for heat and for our livelihoods have been affected. There is simply no propane at the terminals that used to be regular supply points. Propane retailers like Thrifty have to rely on propane from ever-more distant terminals, some as far away as Texas, to obtain what supply is left. For all practical purposes, the pipelines have ceased operation. The Cochin pipeline will never return to our part of the country, and 2/3 of the TEPPCO capacity has been taken away to ship LPGs from Pennsylvania to Texas. These decisions were made by the pipeline operators, but impact all of us.
Thrifty has worked hard this winter to secure supply, and worked hard before the winter began to plan ahead. We will keep you posted on developments and what we are doing to address this continuing crisis.
