ANOTHER PIPELINE CRISIS
They are at it again! They have closed both pipelines to the Northeast this past week, shutting off propane supply to our area. The antics of the pipeline operators have been in the news all winter, while we pay sky-high prices for what propane we can get. But Thrifty Propane thought ahead, bought ahead and stored ahead of the choke hold maneuver. We have "rainy day" supply that we can get to you, in small quantities, until they turn the supply back on next week.
Yes, they are that brazen. They just announce to the shippers that they are shutting the line. They call it "cycle schedule announcement," but when a cycle is cancelled, that means no gas is pumped that week. This winter, getting ethane south was more important than whether you freeze to death: that's why there was such a shortage. All the propane for this harsh winter had to be pushed through 30% of the pipe capacity.
Thrifty has worked hard this winter to keep everyone supplied with propane at a fair price. We may have to add pennies per gallon to cover our extra fuel and man hour costs as we try to finish out this winter with extra miles and wear-and-tear.
