Operating Projects

Effective July 1, 2013, the minimum required to establish a new operating project has changed to $500. We ask that the project maintain that balance to be considered active. Please review the small balances of your operating projects, and if possible, please consolidate or use the balance. If you have questions about this change, please contact us

Mutual Funds

We are pleased to announce we have established a new brokerage account that will allow us to accept most publicly traded mutual funds as gifts. We do request that you give us advance knowledge of upcoming mutual fund and stock gifts. Please direct any questions to Ginger Whelley or contact us.

Strategic Plan

As mentioned in last month's newsletter, our new strategic plan was approved by our board on June 14th. Over the next few newsletters, we will introduce that plan to you. In this issue, we present our Mission, Vision, and Values statements:

The mission statement defines our purpose. It answers the question of "Why do we exist?"

Mission: The mission of the University System of Maryland Foundation is to advocate and support the advancement of public higher education in Maryland through visionary leadership in philanthropy, asset management, and stewardship.

Our vision statement articulates the desired impact we will have on our constituency. It answers the question of "What is the impact of our work?"

Vision: Our vision is to attract broad resources that transform the USM and its institutions, create a network of advocates to embrace the USM's role as an educator and economic engine, and to grow a long-term, sustainable culture of philanthropy across the University System of Maryland.

Our values statement outlines the principles on which we are built and which guide our actions and decisions. It answers the question of "What do we believe in?"

Values: Our work will be guided by the values of integrity and trust, accountability, and collaboration. We will anticipate future trends and needs, and embrace innovations that advance our ability to serve and lead.

In the next issue of the newsletter we will highlight the goals that support these statements.
