CaSE responds to the Autumn Statement
CaSE has welcomed the Chancellor's pledge of an extra £600m for new science funding as part of the Autumn Statement, the biggest single announcement of new research spending since the beginning of the coalition. The total amount of new funding since 2010 has now reached over £1.5bn.

CaSE has now called on the Chancellor to back the recommendations of CaSE and Nesta's '4Growth' report - to strategically reinvest the £4bn proceeds from the forthcoming 4G spectrum auction back into science and technology.

To coincide with the Autumn Statement, CaSE have published an interim analysis of Government spending on science since the 2010 Spending Review. The analysis updates a 2011 report showing the previous cuts to research funding.
Vacancy: Full- or part-time paid internship
Three month contract - London Living Wage (£1,300 per month)

We're looking for someone to support our team on a fixed, short-term contract as a paid intern. The successful candidate will work with us on our political campaigns, support our policy work, and help improve our communication with scientists, engineers, and other interested groups.

The deadline for applications is 10am on 2nd of January 2013. We're looking for someone who can start by mid or late January. To apply and for further details see here.
'4Growth' Campaign - Event and Updates
Following the launch of the '4Growth' campaign - which calls on the Government to reinvest the proceeds from the forthcoming 4G spectrum auction into science and engineering - CaSE and Nesta held an event to discuss the campaign, kindly hosted by the IET.  You can listen to a recording of the debate.

The 4Growth report details how the government could make our proposals a reality and you can also sign our petition. For further details about the campaign see here.
Watch Lord Heseltine deliver the Annual Lecture 2012
A video recording of the CaSE Lecture 2012, given by Lord Heseltine, is now available online. You can watch it in two parts here (1) and here (2).

The former Deputy Prime Minister used the CaSE Annual Lecture to call for science to help drive the UK's economic growth. He also said that CaSE and Nesta's 4Growth report is "an important and illuminating contribution to the debate on industrial strategy".

The full text of the lecture is also available here. The event was hosted at the Science Museum, and kindly sponsored by Airbus and EADS.

CaSE has received two requests from national news organisations, wanting to know if there are any examples of case studies of individuals having difficulties obtaining UK visas.
