Congrats to Caroline Weigandt

Caroline Weigandt, administrative assistant to the Half Moon Bay City Manager, was honored as a finalist at the 18th Annual California on Location Awards (COLA) event held in Pasadena on October 28.  The event is put on every year by the Film Liaisons in California Statewide (FLICS) to honor professionals in the film industry.

Weigandt was recognized in the City Employee category, following her nomination by the San Mateo County Film Commission, part of the San Mateo County/Silicon Valley Convention and Visitors Bureau.  The honor was bestowed on Weigandt for her years of dedication and hard work in facilitating filming in the Half Moon Bay area, working with key city and community leaders.  Her support of the Film Commission, responsible for promoting and attracting filming to the San Mateo County and Silicon Valley, was also noted in Weigandt's recognition.

Mural Depicts The Life of President Theodore Roosevelt

Roosevelt Elementary School children now have someone to look up to, literally. The life and likeness of President Thedore Roosevelt now graces a 40'x8' wall at the school.  The original concept drawing was done by Alisan Andrews, a Society of Western Artists signature artist, and further developed with Redwood City Art Center's Tom Chapman, a retired jockey and famous artist of horses and animals. Catherine Delfs, who is affiliated with the  Sequoia Art Group contributed her expertise with the drawing and painting of small animals and birds.

This work was then completed in October together along with the Redwood City Art Center, teachers, students and parents, Second Mile, the Peninsula Covenant Church, and 300 community volunteers.   It is a welcome addition to the cultural life of Redwood City.
