All Souls News and Events
If you would like to put an announcement in the newsletter, please type up announcements with a few (3-5) sentences that include ALL necessary information and send to Jill Branson in the office at jill@allsoulsknoxville.com.
Members of the ST must be members of the church who are at least age 21 and believe fully in the doctrines in the Apostles' Creed and the Nicene Creed. They should also be: mature in the faith, knowledgeable in Scripture and doctrine, hospitable, self-controlled, holy, upright, and a firm believer in and follower of Jesus. They must also be able and willing to attend one ST meeting each month for a three-year term. There are no term limits.
PLEASE DO NOT DELAY, AS NOMINATIONS ARE DUE BY MONDAY, SEPTEMBER 28.
Please mark your calendars and plan to stay after church on October 4.
We will be voting on the community partners for our 10-to-the-City tithe, followed by a time of fellowship over a pizza dinner. We are suggesting a $3 per adult/$1 per child donation to cover the cost of food.

Final Call for all sopranos, altos, tenors, and basses! All Souls is recruiting singers for an Advent Choir.
Rehearsals will be Thursday nights, 7-9 pm, from October 15 through December 10 at the Johnson's home, 1640 Jefferson, 37917. We will be offering ancient texts, tunes, and some old carols as worship on November 29 and December 13. You may opt to sing on one or both dates. We need to hear from you by September 30 so we can finalize plans.
If you need childcare during rehearsals, please let us know. We always have so much fun making music together; we hope you will join us! To sign up, or for more info, contact Becky Hancock at bupperoni@gmail.com or Travetta Johnson at travetta@msn.com or call 865-468-5778.Happy Birthday All Souls! Our 11th Anniversary Celebration is Sunday, October 11, at Caswell Park, from 5 - 8 p.m. Buddy's BBQ will be catering this event. We have invited Grace and Peace Church, and Overcoming Believers Church to celebrate 11 years of seeking the peace of the city. At this event, we also celebrate those who have invited Christ to live in them and through them, and are following Christ's example of baptism. In Matthew 28:18-20, Jesus commands his disciples to baptize, and we read that the early church baptized believers upon their conversion in Acts 2:38. If you want to talk with Doug about this sacrament, or are interested in being baptized, contact him at doug@allsoulsknoxville.com.

Celebrating our People
Potluck Brunch for all musicians, writers, visual artists, dancers, theatre artists, designers, architects, and all tinkerers and dabblers of artistic media, Saturday, October 17, 10 am to noon, at the Johnson's home in Parkridge, 1640 Jefferson Ave. Bring a breakfast bread, fruit, meat, or egg dish. Drinks provided. Last-minute guests are welcome, but for planning purposes, an RSVP by Sunday, October 11 would be really helpful (travetta@msn.com, 368-5778).
A number of you have expressed a desire to come together to meet each other and to explore what artistic needs or potential initiatives might be common among us, and discuss how those interests might be best served. At the very least, we'll just have a good time of connecting and developing a database of contact information. Teens are welcome, too! Childcare (limited space) will be provided for ages 1 through young 5's if you reserve your spot by October 11. Babies and supervised older children are welcome to stay with us for the brunch. If you have a childcare option elsewhere, please save the limited space for those who do not.

"Many Forms of Prayer" Fall Retreat: Saturday, October 10, 9 am to 3 pm, 8420 Nubbin Ridge Rd., 37923. Hear God's invitation to "be still and know that I am God." Sometimes our prayer lives are vibrant and life-giving; at other times, they can feel stagnant and dull. Fortunately there are many varied ways of talking and listening to God. We will explore several ways at this retreat, along with brief times of group sharing and worship. However, most of the day is reserved for you to spend alone in directed meditation and prayer, walking and feasting in the beauty of autumn. For more information or to register: www.holypaths.org/retreats.
