The communication team at All Souls has been working together for the last few months discussing how we can communicate the testimonies of people in our body. We are praying that these stories will connect and encourage people as they follow Christ and live and serve in community. "Life at All Souls" is a series of stories written by our people about our people living out their faith and participating in the vision of All Souls Church. Our second story, written by Dan Frye, features Danny Bullington.  You can read about Danny's life experiences living in a farm community and how he is able to connect with the gospel through his occupation. Check it out here.

Thank you to those of you who serve in our children's ministry! It is a joy to be with our little ones and help them learn about Jesus and his love for them, to hear them sing, and watch them play together. We are in need of just a few more teacher assistants. The commitment is one Sunday a month. Specifically, we need one helper in the toddler nursery. If you are willing to serve our tiniest members, as an assistant, a teacher or a substitute helper, please contact Melanie Leach at keepingheart@gmail.com.

Calling all Sunday School parents, children, workers, and volunteers. The children's ministry is hosting a potluck on Saturday, August 29, at 5 pm at the home of Matt and Taryn McLean,1983 Maplewood Drive, 37920. Please bring a dish to share. This is always a sweet opportunity to meet our new families and enjoy being together. Please RSVP to Melanie via email keepingheart@gmail.com or phone 865-705-9482 by August 27.

All Souls 10-to-the-City congregational meeting will be September 13 after church. For those new to All Souls, 10-to-the-City is the program in which our church tithes 10% of our annual budget to local community partners. We will be discussing possible community partners at this meeting. Look for more information in next week's newsletter on how to prepare to bring your recommendations.
The meeting will last approximately 30 minutes, and the service itself will be a little shorter than usual. Parents, we really desire your participation in this conversation. Our childcare volunteers will be keeping the children during the meeting and will plan for you to pick your children up at the conclusion of the meeting, instead of before Eucharist as usual.

August Shepherding Team News:
  • In consideration of applying Consensual Orthodoxy, the Shepherding Team realizes that it would be of great benefit to provide tools and methods to the congregation to learn how to disagree well, and the discussion continues on how to do this.
  • Shepherding Team Member Dan Holbrook, a practicing attorney, shared a document on "Legal Hotspots for Churches." One action step that came from that is the development of a safety task force to ensure that we have safeguards in place for our body as we meet together for worship..
  • We are optimistic about the upcoming decision process in determining what community ministries should receive monies through our annual tithe, 10-to-the-City. Realizing that the process served us well in the first application, we will not start with a blank slate as before but build on the positive process that has brought us to where we are.

All Souls offers several classes for children during our Sunday evening service on the third floor. There is a nursery for babies under the age of one, and two classes for 1 to 2-year olds that meet during the whole service on the third floor. Children between the ages of 3 and 11 stay for the first part of the service and then come upstairs for a time of Bible stories, songs, and fun. Contact Melanie Leach at 865-705-9482 or keepingheart@gmail.com.

If you're moving or going on a mission trip and would like for the church to send you out with prayer during the worship service, contact Jesse at jesse@allsoulsknoxville.com.
