We celebrate Maundy Thursday on April 2 at 6 pm in the Square Room.
Our evening together takes its inspiration from the Last Supper, where Jesus washes the feet of his disciples and gives them the deeper command to love as He loves, and He promises the Holy Spirit will come (John 13-17). We celebrate the story together with a potluck meal and a short service with music, teaching, foot washing, and Eucharist. Bring a dish to share. We will provide drinks and utensils.

February Shepherding Team Minutes
March Shepherding Team News -
-
Responding to the expanded role of staff of All Souls in the past year, the by-laws were changed to read thusly: "The lead Pastor and up to two additional staff shall be ex officio voting members of the Shepherding Team." Jill Branson has been added as the second additional staff with voting privileges.
-
The development of a new granting process for Ten-to-the-City (the church's tithe) will begin later in the year and will involve the support of the All Souls body. In order for our small groups to bless the city in the meantime, small group grants up to $500 are once again available. Your group may access the application on the church website.
-
In an effort to ensure the safety of our children and as we consider ways to care for our families well, the Shepherding Team approved funding for background checks to be administered on all volunteers that have contact with our children and youth. This is a proactive measure suggested by our insurance company.
-
While public announcements and invitations are extended to All Souls attendees for the many Bible studies supported by those in our church, there is thirst for more knowledge of the Word. The Shepherding Team is developing ways to provide more support for Scriptural instruction and edification.
-
Members of the Shepherding Team ask for your prayers for an upcoming overnight retreat March 27-28.
For 2015, the Small Group Grants (up to $500) are now available. Please see the application for guidelines.

Knoxville Community Involvement
All Souls does not take formal positions on doctrinal or ethical positions outside of the Creed. We do, however, support our people as they, under the authority of scripture, in prayer and through community, discern the way of Christ in our world. Following Augustine, we believe in essentials, unity, in non-essentials, charity and in all things love. We celebrate all the diverse ways our members follow Christ in the world, even when we disagree with one another. Announcements in the update reflect the many ways our people are serving God in our community. They do not reflect All Souls' endorsement of a particular issue, doctrinal position, or cause.

"Write and Tell Mother...": East Tennesseans in the Great War, 1917-1919 | A Lecture by Pat Gang Thursday, March 19, 6:30 pm , East Tennessee History Fair, 601 S Gay Street. There is a reason that Veterans Day Parades halt for a moment of silence at precisely 11 am. It was at 11 am on the 11th of November 1918, that the deadliest and most destructive war in history, to that point, ended. More than 130,000 Tennesseans served in the Great War, some 40,000 of them from East Tennessee. Knoxville and Knox County contributed more than 5,000 men to the cause. Colonel Cary Spence of the 177th Infantry, raised from the Tennessee National Guard, praised them for their "glorious record in all operations" and expressed an "appreciation of the courage, fortitude, and devotion displayed." In a special lecture, Pat Gang will share the stories of these brave East Tennessee soldiers. The lecture is free and open to the public. Kelle Jolly & The Will Boyd Project bring classic standards to life with their soulful stylings and jazzy grooves on March 20, 6 - 8:30 pm at the Knoxville Museum of Art, 1050 Worlds Fair Park Drive. Combining a voice reminiscent of Sarah Vaughn or Oleta Adams with an effervescent stage presence, Kelle is the perfect counterpoint to her husband Will's cool virtuosity on any of the saxophones he chooses to play. Food will be available from The Viet Grill. Pam Strickland to Lead Workshop on Persuasive Writing Pam Strickland, former popular op-ed political columnist for the Knoxville News Sentinel, will teach a workshop on writing persuasively for op-eds and other purposes. Sponsored by the Knoxville Writers' Guild, cost is $35 for KWG members and $40 for nonmembers. More Info
