Doug will be preaching at Overcoming Believers Church on Sunday, Feb. 8 at 12:30 p.m. and he would love to have as many All Souls people there as possible. As we seek the peace of the city, we also seek connections with the larger body of Christ in Knoxville. This will hopefully allow us to build on the relationship started by Doug and Pastor Daryl Arnold, and to create an ongoing relationship between our churches. Overcoming Believers Church is at 211 Harriet Tubman Street, Knoxville, TN 37915.

The All Souls Medical Fund will be accepting applications for this quarter from now through February 15.  The fund helps members and people who regularly attend All Souls with medical, behavioral, and dental expenses not covered by insurance.  The updated policy is attached along with an application.  Questions and applications can be submitted to Brad Carter for this quarter at: bradcart@lycos.com. In addition to the application, be sure to include documentation of expenses/bills and what insurance has covered (Explanation of Benefits) if you have insurance.

Shepherding Team news - The January meeting of the Shepherding Team resulted in many decisions made and many plans to be made.  Of the decisions made, the following Shepherds are taking on certain responsibilities for the year:

Marie Alcorn, Chair

Daniel Odle, Vice Chair of Property/Business Operations

Mary Baldridge, Vice Chair of Ministries

Ginger Kielarowski, Secretary

Bruce Charles will continue to serve as Treasurer with no voting privileges

Dan Holbrook, Nominating Chair

In following up the continuing discussion of the increasing need for support of the children's ministry, some of the space use issues have been addressed with dividers.  However, one additional paid worker is still needed.

The intentional community building among some All Souls people in Parkridge is ever increasing in the response to the presence of the Holy Spirit. Parkridge neighbors are asking for input from Doug as well as others, including the Shepherding Team. At this time casual discussions are being anticipated to establish and maintain a system of support as the challenges of change and growth are addressed.

Please remember to keep our friends Markel and Kyana (ages 12 and 9) in your prayers as DCS works to find a family for them in the next 3 weeks before their foster placement ends. Please contact Doug doug@allsoulsknoxville.com or Emily Hall emily.hall06@yahoo.com with any questions or interest.

We are looking for someone to sew a simple curtain for the conference room hall window for use during the children's Sunday school.  If you would like to help with this project, please contact Melanie Leach at keepingheart@gmail.com.

 Knoxville Community Involvement

All Souls does not take formal positions on doctrinal or ethical positions outside of the Creed. We do, however, support our people as they, under the authority of scripture, in prayer and through community, discern the way of Christ in our world. Following Augustine, we believe in essentials, unity, in non-essentials, charity and in all things love. We celebrate all the diverse ways our members  follow Christ in the world, even when we disagree with one another. Announcements in the update reflect the many ways our people are serving God in our community. They do not reflect All Souls' endorsement of a particular issue, doctrinal position, or cause.

"Because He First Loved Us!" is a Valentine's Day Dinner and Dance for Single Parents and their families. While others may make plans to splurge on Valentine dinners, shows, and gifts, the focus will be on those who may not be able to experience the same but are just as deserving. See information below on ways you can help serve our modern day widows and orphans for a day of laughter, fun, dinner, and dancing.

This event will be hosted by Knoxville's Empowering Single Parent Network (KESPN) -a community of volunteers who host special events and celebrations for single parents and their families for a very affordable cost.

Volunteers are needed for table hosts, greeters, childcare, servers, cooks, decorators, photographers, DJ, and help with set-up and breakdown.

Donations are needed: Valentine arts and crafts, small stuffed animals, door prizes for the single parents who will be attending, and goodies to go in the Valentine's love bags (candy, cards of love, pens, encouraging artwork, picture frames, etc.) for each single parent family.

The cost of the event is $15.00 (per family), which includes a nice dinner, family photos with backdrop, and Valentine craft for each child. Please call 865-951-6651, or email Sherra sl.robinson92@gmail.com for more information.
