CHRISTMAS EVE SERVICE
We celebrate the birth and light of Christ with our Christmas Eve Service on December 24th at 5 pm in the Market Square Pavilion. Since we hold it outside, we will cancel if bad rain or snow shows up. We will send out a day-of cancellation email if that is the case.

Join us every Sunday through Advent at 7 pm in the Chapel for a brief compline service.NEWS FROM THE SHEPHERDING TEAM As we come to the close of the All Souls budget year, our revenue is currently projected to be about $30,000 less than what is needed to cover our operating budget. This is the result of adding needed nursery workers and a full-time office manager to our staff mid-year. As you prepare to do your year-end contributions, please prayerfully consider this situation and your gifts to All Souls. Much of the December 2 meeting of the Shepherding Team was spent discussing church growth issues and how to provide space and support for the number of new babies being born in our congregation. One short-term response is to add two more paid nursery workers and to work with 4 Market Square to develop flexible solutions to use space more effectively. This led into discussion and approval of the budget for 2015 which includes new nursery workers and the costs of the needed space solutions. Three new Shepherds have been elected for three-year terms that start on Jan. 1, 2015: Danny Bullington, Dan Holbrook, and Ginger Kielarowski. They will replace Brad Carter, Joe Morelock, and Laurens Tullock, who are rolling off the Shepherding Team at the completion of their terms on December 31. An orientation retreat was held on December 13 for the new Shepherding Team. Officers will be elected in January. ONE MORE CHILDREN'S HELPER NEEDED: We are in need of one more person for the 2- year-old class on the 5th Sundays in 2015. (There are three 5th Sundays from January - May). If you would be willing to volunteer those three times, please email Melanie Leach keepingheart@gmail.com.

Waiting: The Spiritual Discipline
Susanne Hassell shared a spiritual discipline useful for making us into the people of God: waiting. Waiting builds us up. During Advent, the church specifically celebrates waiting. We say, "Come Emmanuel (God-with-us)." We wait for Jesus Christ to be revealed in us in a new way. What is God birthing in you during Advent or other times of waiting?

Help Stock the Volunteer Ministry Holiday Store! In seeking the peace of the city, many of our members have worked through Volunteer Ministry Center (www.vmcinc.org), and the church has given financial support through our tithing referred to as Ten-to-the-City. Additionally this Christmas season we are providing an opportunity for individuals to donate items for the VMC Holiday Store, where VMC clients "make purchases" with points that they have accrued through community service. Please see a list of suggested items HERE , and we'll have a deposit box at the December 21st All Souls worship services. Hello, my name is Colin Skinner- I've played percussion a few times at All Souls and I am a graduate of the Fellows Program! Just wanted to introduce myself and let you know that Bryan Terrill and I are embarking on a journey to collect and tell God's story in our city of Knoxville. This is no easy conquest, which is why we are crowdsourcing it: asking people, The Body of Christ, the church, to send us their experiences, stories, triumphs, defeats, etc. in the Lord, especially in Knoxville, whether it is the arts, marketplace, athletics, etc. In this way, we celebrate together what God is doing in this city! I just wanted to encourage the Body at All Souls to be aware and get involved in telling the story of God in our city, as well as to follow on Instagram (@pileofstones) and to get the word out in any way you feel led. Please submit your story to colingskinner@gmail.com or bryancterrill@gmail.com. | | Ashley Addair |

Knoxville Community Involvement
All Souls does not take formal positions on doctrinal or ethical positions outside of the Creed. We do, however, support our people as they, under the authority of scripture, in prayer and through community, discern the way of Christ in our world. Following Augustine, we believe in essentials, unity, in non-essentials, charity and in all things love. We celebrate all the diverse ways our members follow Christ in the world, even when we disagree with one another. Announcements in the update reflect the many ways our people are serving God in our community. They do not reflect All Souls' endorsement of a particular issue, doctrinal position, or cause.
Volunteer at The Love Kitchen over the Christmas Holidays The Love Kitchen provides meals, clothing and emergency food packages to homebound, homeless, and unemployed persons. They work with local agencies to provide meals, secure used clothing, and donate services in the hope of promoting the self-sufficiency of those they serve. The organization has no paid staff; all donations go to those who need it most. Their ultimate goal is to provide nourishment for anyone who is hungry and to establish a community center to serve as a safe haven supporting area children and their families. More Info
