CHRISTMAS EVE SERVICE

We celebrate the birth and light of Christ with our Christmas Eve Service on December 24th at 5pm in the Market Square Pavilion. Since we hold it outside, we will cancel if bad rain or snow shows up. We will send out a day-of cancellation email if that is the case.

Join us every Sunday through Advent
at 7 pm in the Chapel for a brief compline service.

Waiting: The Spiritual Discipline
Susanne Hassell shared a spiritual discipline useful for making us into the people of God: waiting. Waiting builds us up. During Advent, the church specifically celebrates waiting. We say, "Come Emmanuel (God-with-us)." We wait for Jesus Christ to be revealed in us in a new way. What is God birthing in you during Advent or other times of waiting?

Endure is a live worship project for all the broken, hopeful, and weary that are trusting the Lord on their journey. It is opportunity to come together as a body and worship through the journey together. This live album, written by Vincent Charlow, who often shares the stage with Jesse to lead our worship, will be on Dec. 20th at 7 pm. 119 W Fifth Ave, Knoxville, TN. To learn how to support this project in prayer and action, contact Vincent at vincent.charlow@gmail.com.

Help Stock the Volunteer Ministry Holiday Store!
In seeking the peace of the city, many of our members have worked through Volunteer Ministry Center (
www.vmcinc.org), and the church has given financial support through our tithing referred to as Ten-to-the-City.  Additionally this Christmas season we are providing an opportunity for individuals to donate items for the VMC Holiday Store, where VMC clients "make purchases" with points that they have accrued through community service.  Please see a list of suggested items HERE , and we'll have a deposit box at the December 14, and 21 All Souls worship services. Please contact Marie Alcorn, 865-679-3048 or marie.alcorn@yahoo.com for additional information.

Rick Kuhlman and Colin Skinner
Hello, my name is Colin Skinner- I've played percussion a few times at All Souls and I am a graduate of the Fellows Program! Just wanted to introduce myself and let you know that Bryan Terrill and I are embarking on a journey to collect and tell God's story in our city of Knoxville. This is no easy conquest, which is why we are crowdsourcing it: asking people, The Body of Christ, the church, to send us their experiences, stories, triumphs, defeats, etc. in the Lord, especially in Knoxville, whether it is the arts, marketplace, athletics, etc. In this way, we celebrate together what God is doing in this city! I just wanted to encourage the Body at All Souls to be aware and get involved in telling the story of God in our city, as well as to follow on Instagram (@pileofstones) and to get the word out in any way you feel led. Please submit your story to colingskinner@gmail.com or bryancterrill@gmail.com.

This should take

knoxvillecommunityKnoxville Community Involvement

All Souls does not take formal positions on doctrinal or ethical positions outside of the Creed. We do, however, support our people as they, under the authority of scripture, in prayer and through community, discern the way of Christ in our world. Following Augustine, we believe in essentials, unity, in non-essentials, charity and in all things love. We celebrate all the diverse ways our members  follow Christ in the world, even when we disagree with one another. Announcements in the update reflect the many ways our people are serving God in our community. They do not reflect All Souls' endorsement of a particular issue, doctrinal position, or cause.

Volunteer at The Love Kitchen over the Christmas Holidays
The Love Kitchen provides meals, clothing and emergency food packages to homebound, homeless and unemployed persons. They work with local agencies to provide meals, secure used clothing, and donate services in the hope of promoting the self-sufficiency of those they serve. The organization has no paid staff; all donations go to those who need it most. Their ultimate goal is to provide nourishment for anyone who is hungry and to establish a community center to serve as a safe haven supporting area children and their families.

Keepin' the Holiday Lights On ... All Year Long

The Volunteer Ministry Center works with individuals and families in crisis who are at risk of losing their housing to help them develop a plan to pay their utility bills and maintain their housing over the long term.  Last year, 3087 utility requests were made to VMC; however, only 593 of those requests could be fulfilled due to funding availability.  A gift of $25, $50, $75 or more will help someone keep their lights on.  Please mail your tax-deductible gift to Volunteer Ministry Center, P.O. Box 325, Knoxville, TN 37901 or make an online donation at

www.vmcinc.org.
