In case you missed the September Offering from the Green Magnet School please see the following link.
It is a thanks offering for including the school as one of the recipients of our 10 to the City tithe. The ASK gift was tied to student achievement in an important benchmark test leading to the TCAP (statewide standardized test). The staff and teachers appreciated ASK's support of their efforts by celebrating achieving students. The students were thrilled to receive the recognition, and of course the pizza! The talented creator of the video was Knoxville's own Tarrer Pace who donated her fee for video creation back to ASK for the next Green Magnet celebration!

knoxvillecommunityKnoxville Community Involvement

All Souls does not take formal positions on doctrinal or ethical positions outside of the Creed. We do, however, support our people as they, under the authority of scripture, in prayer and through community, discern the way of Christ in our world. Following Augustine, we believe in essentials, unity, in non-essentials, charity and in all things love. We celebrate all the diverse ways our members  follow Christ in the world, even when we disagree with one another. Announcements in the update reflect the many ways our people are serving God in our community. They do not reflect All Souls' endorsement of a particular issue, doctrinal position, or cause.

The Last Billion Years: A Geologic History of Tennessee | Brown Bag Lecture by Don W. Byerly, Ph.D. on November 12th at 12pm.
East Tennessee History Center and Museum  601 S Gay Street , Knoxville TN
What were the geological forces that shaped East Tennessee? In a Brown Bag Lecture on Wednesday, November 12, Don Byerly will introduce us to Tennessee's "deep history," the billion years over which our land has slowly evolved to form the mountains and valleys we enjoy today. He compares the study of Earth history to that of human history in that one must learn the language to study the history, pointing out that just as petroglyphs and scrolls interpret human events, rocks tell the story of the earth's formation.

Dr. Byerly is professor emeritus of geology at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville, a founding member of Tennessee Earth Science Teachers, and the recipient of several awards.

November Loving Spoonful Fundraisers for the new childrens' museum The Muse at Tomato Head in Market Square through the month of November

Join The Muse Knoxville and The Tomato Head each Tuesday in November as they host fundraisers that will add a new addition to the children's science museum. "The funds raised throughout this month will be used to develop our on-site garden beds and the educational programs that will reconnect visitors with the natural world and the true source of their food," said Ellie Kittrell, Executive Director of The Muse.

A portion of the proceeds from all food and drink sales generated during lunch and dinner at both Tomato Head locations goes directly to The Muse Knoxville.

With close to 4000 square feet, The Muse presents Knoxville's only public access Planetarium, an exhibit for preschoolers to test motor skills and express themselves creatively as well as exhibits related to science, engineering, and design for older students.

McClung Museum: Birds, Bugs and Blooms: Natural History Prints from the 1500s-1800s  1327 Circle Park Drive , Knoxville TN

Drawing on the collections of the McClung Museum, the University of Tennessee Library's Special Collections, as well as private collections, this exhibit explores the fascinating intersection of art and science in the tradition of natural history illustration and features over fifty rare books, prints, and objects.

From 16th century imaginings of fantastical beasts, to the extremely accurate 19th illustrations of plants and animals, the works on view highlight how increasing access to travel, technology, and books, as well as the evolution of the field of science, changed how these artful illustrations were created and interpreted.
