Annually at our birthday celebration, we also celebrate the life of Christ in those individuals who have made a decision to follow Christ's example of baptism. Jesus commands his disciples to baptize in Matthew 28:18-20 and we read that the early church baptized believers upon their conversion in Acts 2:38.  If you want to talk more with Doug about this sacrament and/or be baptized on October 5th, contact him at doug@allsoulsknoxville.com.

An Update from Elisa Platillero - I wanted to share a bit of news that also gives some explanation for my absence from All Souls. The official website for the program I'm working for is globalsportswomen.org.

My work as a filmmaker with UT is taking me all over the U.S. to document the 3rd annual State Department and espnW Global Sports Mentoring Program

For the next five weeks, I'll travel with my team from DC to LA and 10 other cities in between to tell the stories of 17 female Emerging Leaders from around the world (Zimbabwe, Singapore, Brazil, Lebanon, Bangladesh, Denmark, Kenya) who are being mentored by their American female counterparts at Google, NHL, WNBA, Playworks, USOC, DLA Piper, Burton Snowboards, ESPN, and others. Each of them will work with their mentors to prepare an Action Plan that they can implement upon their return home - using sports to empower women and girls in their communities, usually in the areas of greatest need.

It's my job to capture their experience through photography and video, and I'm humbled to be a part of such a global, impactful initiative. Over the past 3 years working with this program, I've seen huge results in changed lives in these women. We also long for each of these women who participate to know and love our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. So I ask that as I continue to work in this program (Sept 5-Oct 10), you all would pray for continued opportunities to share the Hope that is within us.

I post photos every day at  flickr.com/globalsportswomen. We also post compelling stories of each mentor and emerging leader pair on Facebook here.

knoxvillecommunityCommunity Involvement

All Souls does not take formal positions on doctrinal or ethical positions outside of the Creed. We do, however, support our people as they, under the authority of scripture, in prayer and through community, discern the way of Christ in our world. Following Augustine, we believe in essentials, unity, in non-essentials, charity and in all things love.  We celebrate all the diverse ways our members  follow Christ in the world, even when we disagree with one another. Announcements in the update reflect the many ways our people are serving God in our community. They do not reflect All Souls' endorsement of a particular issue, doctrinal position, or cause.
