Youth Group Ice Skating in Market Square

All Souls Youth Group needs Volunteers!!

Do you have a passion for working with youth and want to be a part of this special group? There will be a volunteer meeting Sunday, Jan. 12th in Conference room at 6:30 for anybody that is interested. Contact Shawn Mauer with questions: shawnmauer@hotmail.com.

Lynn Charles' father, Melvin Peterson, passed away on New Year's eve. A memorial service will be held on Friday, January 10th at 6:30 PM at Church of the Ascension, 800 Northshore Dr. Her extended family is coming to town next weekend. If you would like to contribute food, email Lindsey Bell at lindseybell3@gmail.com.

Please continue to pray for the Tolliver family. Chelsea had another seizure, and they are taking her back to Johns Hopkins this week.

From Karen Blum ~ I wanted to write to update the church on the huge success of the Angel Tree.
In total we served 22 families with 46 children. I saw this as a huge influence and benefit to all involved. I can tell you their are a number of families who expressed great appreciated to generosity of our church. Many where overwhelmed at being remembered at Christmas. With certainty many families also let me know that the contribution they received had a lovely impact on the beauty of this time of year. I personally was happy to have met so many fine people both at the church and in the community.

OPPORTUNITIES TO SERVE IN OUR GATHERINGS

Read the following two needs for our service and, if you have a physical reaction such as falling out of your seat in excitement or quitting your job so you have the time to serve, please let me know. Either we'll plug you into the responsibility or urge you to re-consider your goals for 2014.

Offering Usher Leader: the Offering Usher Leader arrives before the service, sets out Bibles and offering gear, and recruits three fellow sojourners to help them take up the offering. He or she and one other person counts the money, and the gear and Bibles get put back into the cart at the end of the service. We have a need for someone to cover this way of serving our body on the third Sunday of each month for a one-year commitment. Right now, all of the Offering Usher Leaders have beards, so priority goes to someone without facial hair.

Communion Server Leader: the Communion Server Leader arranges four people, which may include him or her self, to serve the wine and grape juice to our body each month. This need is open on the second Sunday of each month for a one-year commitment.

If you have the time and energy, you are welcome to make our liturgy--"the work of the people"--a greater reality in our body by continuing to spread out the input people bring to our gatherings. -Jesse Watkins (jesse@allsoulsknoxville.com - 242-9636)

Could you please help us seek the "shalom" of Parkridge with your prayers and financial generosity for this family?
Jack Hutchins was well-known and loved throughout the Parkridge neighborhood as a friend, a hard-working handyman, a loving husband and father of 8 children, and a great neighbor who was always ready to lend a hand to neighbors in need.  On Nov. 30th, he was shot and killed as he stepped out of his truck, returning home with a take-out dinner for his family.  Jack worked 7 days a week to support the family and to put his wife Beth, and oldest son Eric, through college.  The
Hutchins/Dompier family is low-income, but hard-working and responsible; the children are delightful.  They are devastated over Jack's death, both emotionally and financially.
Their needs will be long-term for food, clothing, utilities, basic living expenses, and emotional support.  Could you please help them with a financial donation at any SUNTRUST bank?  Just ask for the Benefit Account for BETH DOMPIER. Contact Travetta Johnson for more questions: travetta@msn.com.
