The Nominating Committee is recommending three members to be part of the Shepherding Team slade to serve 2014-2016.  These members are Mary Baldridge, Kate Brimer and Daniel Odle.  Please use the next few weeks to talk to these servants and pray over their inclusion on the slate, which will be voted as a team (either accepting or declining) on November 24 after the service.  If there are any issues with any of these candidates, please contact any member of the current Shepherding Team.

Starting on Sunday, November 3 there will be a four-week study of God's principles about stewardship, money and resources by using the Crown Ministries Personal Financial Study.
During this study we'll explore what God's idea of stewardship looks like, develop new attitudes about money and possessions, learn to develop a solid financial plan and grow in our generosity. There will be a short introduction meeting and sign up on Sunday, October 27 in the conference room after church. Workbooks will be handed out to those who decide to join the study. The first discussion meeting will be at 3:00 on Sunday, November 3 in the conference room.
The cost for the materials is $49.95 for the participant workbook, DVD and suite of online financial software. Scholarships are available. For more information go to the Crown website at Crown.org, or contact Ron Wollard at 865-209-7798 / rdw57ord@gmail.com.

Jenna Claire Rorex is the Program Director at Thrive Lonsdale (previously known as SOAR Youth Ministries) which serves kids and youth in the Lonsdale community. We hire part-time staff as "interns" each semester to lead a classroom of about 12 students split by grade level varying from 1st-8th grade. It is a really sweet way to grow personally, get to know students and do inner-city ministry, and have a part-time job. Generally we hire college students to work between 8 and 16 hours/week but it can be up to 20 hours/week if desired. Interested individuals can contact me by email (jennaclaire.soar@gmail.com) for the application and further information. Application materials are due by November 11.

The BUDDY'S Race Against Cancer is a 5K walk and run that raises funds for Thompson Cancer Survival Center's Outreach Services program. If you're not a runner, you can still participate by walking in the non-timed 5K. If you prefer a shorter distance, take a stroll in our "Walk in the Park." It's the perfect opportunity to honor loved ones battling cancer and remember those who so courageously fought the disease and are no longer with us. Survivors are encouraged to take part in our "Tribute to Survivors" and celebrate their triumphs in their cancer journey. http://www.buddysrace.org/home
