(from Sarah Johnson) Some friends of mine from over at Focus Group Ministries have recently received some government funding and permission to start The Fatherhood Initiative and I am helping out with some volunteer coordination.  The Fatherhood Initiative a transformative program based on Malachi 4:6 for men in prison and their families. In prison the men are in class for most of the day learning how to be a Biblical father in prison and out, how to be a servant leader, how to get and retain jobs for life, how to handle their finances through Financial Peace University courses, as well as learning how to disciple others. All the while, their families are being counseled through community resources like the Y about how to receive a biblical husband and father when he gets out of prison. This program is coming from a ministry who is having an incredible impact on this community. In Tennessee 85% of inmates who get out of prison are re-incarcerated within 3 year, meaning just 15% have stayed out of prison for 3 years. Focus Ministries is having the opposite effect: only 15% of those who go through Focus's Program are re-incarcerated within 3 years, meaning 85% have stayed out of trouble and are potentially thriving. -The launch for The Fatherhood Initiative is August 30-31 with a Benefit Concert on Friday at Centerpointe Church @6pm and a  Walk-a-thon at Victor Ashe park on Saturday @10:00am. This launch event needs VOLUNTEERS!! To volunteer email me at sarah.b.johnson90@gmail.com or call me at 615.557.5226!

From Robert Cremins - I am a 23 year old male college student who is looking for a roommate. I would love to live in the Parkridge area, but I am flexible about location. I can afford to spend around $400 per month. I recently moved back to knoxville after studying for three years at a school of ministry in Redding, Ca. I am currently studying Political Science and Religious Studies. I am fairly clean, extroverted, and passionate about living connected to community. You can contact me at 865-207-8083 or by email at rcremin1@utk.edu. I would love to grab some coffee with you and see if we would be a good fit.
