New Class on the Gospel of Mark, led by Stephen Otis, Starts June 25th! When: Tuesdays, 6:00-8:00 pm (June 25th-September 10th) What: The gospel of Mark is the announcement of the work and truth of Jesus Christ in response to the persecutions in Rome under the cruel dictatorship of Nero. Victory and authority over darkness (chaos) and hope in the eternal kingdom are readily present themes. The class will dive into the gospel of Mark through reading, study, lecture, dialogue, meditation and prayer. Come soak in the Word (healing) of God and learn about Jesus Christ through the reading of the Scripture in the common faith of brothers and sisters. Those who are spiritually seeking are also most welcome! It's gonna be a great time together of deep questioning, transformation and healing. Contact for those interested: otispink@hotmail.com
 | | Yayy Susanne, who is rocking her Doctorate today! |
Starting June 2nd we will be adding a new class for our 2 year olds.
To make the transition from the worship service to the classroom easier we are going to dismiss the 2 - 6 year olds at the Passing of the Peace. We encourage the parents of the 2 year olds to come up with their child and help them get settled for a few weeks. When each child is comfortable coming upstairs by himself parents can just accompany their child to the front of the room when the children are dismissed. The 7-11 year olds will be dismissed at the usual time after the offering. We will enter the back of the church when it is time for communion. Parents please come to the back to get your child. | Bailey and Meredith Kielarowski Congrats on your graduation, Bailey!
| Small Group Grants Available$6000 was designated for small grants through the 10-to-the-City program. At this time the maximum amount of each grant is $500. To date we have had two requests. The criteria are that the funded effort should create incentives for servant leadership and/or result in community impact. Some suggested ways to apply the funds would be to cover the expenses of - An Amachi mentee going to CCDA (Christian Community Development Association)
- Youth to a summer experience such as a music camp or leadership training (not necessarily Christian-based)
- Home-schooling parents or students for an enrichment experience
- Prayer training
We ask you to put these funds to good work. The application is on the homepage of the website, www.allsoulsknoxville.com Approved expenses will be reimbursed upon submission of receipts. Be an Amachi Mentor with Knoxville Leadership Foundation!
"More than a program, [Amachi] is the passionate response to the needs of children with one or both parents in prison. These children are invisible to most of us. There are few viable programs to address the specific needs of the 'invisible' children. The Amachi program is designed to address these needs and later the potential negative direction of these children's lives. Through Amachi, mentoring matches are made and support is offered by Amachi partners and participating Amachi congregataions."
