"Spring Cleaning" Lent Retreat

February 23, Saturday, 9-3:00     8420 Nubbin Ridge Rd.

Registration deadline: FEB. 16

For more information or to register, see www.holypaths.org/retreats

Hear God's invitation to "be still and know that I am God." The day will be spent learning to listen to God. There will be brief times of group sharing and worship but most of the day is reserved for you to spend alone in directed meditation and prayer, walking and feasting in the new birth of spring.

The emphasis will be on fasting - giving up food, TV, work, or anything that comes between ourselves and God in a discipline of self-denial. Dallas Willard says, "How often have we neglected to remember God's presence when we would never consider neglecting to eat! Fasting brings us face to face with how we put the material world ahead of its spiritual Source."

Andrew, Spencer, Kaitlyn Hall

We're in the early stages of creating a Childcare Co-op for daytime care.  If parents are interested in joining please contact me at ashleydawnaddair@gmail.com. Or if you would like to support parents by volunteering to babysit that'd be wonderful and welcomed.

A series of workshops that provide faculty, students, and community members with tools to start and grow their own businesses will kick off February 5 at UT. The Vol Court spring 2013 program will run through March 12. The workshops will be held at 5:15 p.m. on Tuesdays in Room 102 of the James A. Haslam Business Building.

The Parking Situation downtown on Sundays - Gay St. parking will begin to tighten up. They are going to start towing EVERY day of the week, people. 15 min parking on Union is usually safe, but maybe not for long. Read this article in the Metro Pulse and be careful where you park.

We are doing baby baptisms on Easter Sunday this year. (March 31) at Old Mechanicsville Park in Mechanicsville. If you would like your child to be baptised, come to a class the Sunday before (March 24) at 3pm in the conference room, and email Doug Banister @ doug@allsoulsknoxville.com.

Caroline Carter, Lindsey Bell

There will be a Lenten lunch series at the downtown churches this year during Lent. There will be a 30 minute worship service around a lenten theme in the Sanctuary, and then a lunch following in the Fellowship Hall. Services start at noon, lunch is at 12:30. Come and join us!

I knew that I needed to slow down and rest, but it always seemed impossible. During Lent several years ago, I felt convicted to keep Sabbath, commenting that I could do anything for 6 weeks! The results changed my life so dramatically that I have continued the practice ever since. I invite...challenge... double-dare you to take on the practice of Sabbath this Lent and see what happens! To get you started....
