This summer World Vets had the opportunity to work at an elephant sanctuary located in northern Thailand. We were able to share this unique experience with many student volunteers as well as a few veterinarians and technicians.
Our volunteers took part in routine daily tasks involving the general care, feeding and maintenance of elephants. They also provided ongoing veterinary attention that various elephants require due to injures suffered prior to their re-location to the sanctuary. We also used this experience as a teaching opportunity for students to learn more about elephant anatomy, medicine and treatments.
In August World Vets had two veterinary teams in the Balkans region of Europe. Our teams worked with local partners in Albania and Romania where they provided free sterilizations and other needed veterinary services. Hundreds of animals benefited and came to us in baskets, bags and other forms of "transport" to receive attention and care.
We greatly appreciate and thank our dedicated volunteers and local partners for an outstanding job and a successful summer effort!
A donation to World Vets keeps our veterinary and training programs running. It also makes a difference in the lives of all the animals impacted by our aid provided worldwide each year. With your support we can continue to help these animals in need.
