At World Vets one of our main goals is to provide training and educational opportunities abroad meanwhile inspire a desire to help animals in need. In this newsletter we'd like to highlight our training program and the many opportunities that World Vets has for students as well as veterinary professionals.
All of our training programs are presently based at our Latin America Veterinary Training Center located in Nicaragua. Here we provide a brief summary of these opportunities and who they are available to.
Latin American Surgical Training
Our
veterinary training center was conceptualized after recognizing the disparity that exists in veterinary education and in turn surgical skill that veterinarians in Latin America possess. The center was also founded on the principle that by having competent surgeons in this region of the world, that this would have a positive "trickle down effect" on safely controlling the population of small animals over the long term.
As such, the cornerstone of our
training center is our free surgical training sessions provided to/for Latin American veterinarians and veterinary students.
Fondation Brigitte Bardot has been an ongoing sponsor of this program since its inception in 2011.
Student Internship ProgramWe now offer a 4 week student internship. This opportunity caters to pre-veterinary and/or veterinary technology students, and facilitates hands on veterinary experience in both an international and clinical environment.
