Textbook Donation Benefits Veterinary Students in the Philippines
Last year World Vets received a request from a veterinary student in the Philippines named Jorim. It was a request he thought would never result into anything, but decided to write to us anyway. Jorim reached out with a simple request, veterinary textbooks for his school so that he and his fellow students could expand their knowledge for the benefit of animals in their community.
In many countries across the world, textbooks are very hard to come by, and so World Vets initiated a veterinary textbook drive to help fill this gap. To date, textbooks we've collected have contributed to the education of veterinary professional's in Nicaragua, the Sudan, Marshall Islands, Kiribati and the Solomon Islands. Those who contributed to our textbook drive will be happy to hear that we can now add the Philippines to this list!
With many thanks to the 2015 Pacific Partnership mission, World Vets was able to ship, on the USNS MERCY, a pallet loaded of donated veterinary textbooks for Jorim's school, specifically to benefit the library of the Department of Animal Science and Veterinary Medicine at Cebu Technological University.
We would like to thank everyone involved in making Jorim`s request a reality!

World Vets provides Surgical Training for Vets Paraguay
World Vets has been working with Adoptame, an animal welfare organization based in Asuncion, Paraguay, to not only bring quality veterinary care to urban animals, but essential skills and training to local vets.
A World Vets team recently operated a week long surgical training course in Paraguay. Seven local veterinarians participated and over 300 animals benefited from the quality care and veterinary services provided! Throughout the week we conducted daily educational seminars as well as surgical instruction and training for local vets. This opportunity also afforded our team the chance to bring free veterinary services to poor barrios located in Asuncion, the capital.
We'd like to express our gratitude to Fondation Brigitte Bardot for their support of our efforts in Paraguay! We'd also like to thank our dedicated team members for contributing their expertise and energy to this project. And, last but not least, to our partners in Asuncion, for their passion and commitment to animal welfare in their country.

World Vets Team Works in Romania
Last month World Vets sent a team to Romania to address the huge pet overpopulation problem, which has resulted in many homeless and neglected animals. To contribute to the prevention of unwanted and uncared for animals, our team worked in the city of Galati where they provided a free city-wide spay/neuter campaign.
Our team received an overwhelming amount of local support. Local veterinarians and pet owners expressed their appreciation by gifting our volunteers home made wine and flowers and produce from their gardens! Local authorities even paid a visit to our clinic site to thank our volunteers for their work.
We wish to thank our local partners, Sava's Safe Haven, for hosting our team and veterinary campaign. We'd also like to extend our appreciation to our dedicated volunteers who have made a difference in the lives of so many animals.
