World Vets has a Student Program! Introducing the International Veterinary Medicine (IVM) Program

The International Veterinary Medicine (IVM) Program is World Vets student program. Held in Nicaragua, it is a multi - disciplinary veterinary training program for veterinary, pre - veterinary and technician students who wish to gain clinical as well as surgical experience. The program also provides students will a rich cultural experience and serves as an introduction to practicing international medicine.

The IVM Program allows students to take part in a variety of activities from working in a clinical setting to providing community outreach clinics in rural barrios. More specifically, veterinary students have the opportunity to perform spay and neuter surgeries in a low stress environment with one on one instruction. Pre - veterinary and technician students subsequently learn how to prepare patients for surgery as well as monitor patients under anesthesia and in recovery. Read more about the student experience here

As part of this program, we also recruit and have a low cost volunteer opportunity for licensed veterinarians and technicians who serve in the role of instructor. There are still openings for veterinarians this summer! Read more about the instructor experience here

World Vets Field Service in Belize: Successful Pilot Project Completed

We have just had a team return from a successful pilot project executed in Placencia, Belize. Not only was this the first veterinary team we've sent to this area it was also the first direct veterinary service campaign for the community they served. As such our team was able to help many animals in need performing free sterilization surgeries as well as health consultations, treatments and other life saving surgeries. We'd like to thank our local partners as well as our volunteers for an outstanding effort. See pictures
