Providing Direct Veterinary Care to Animals since 2006
World Vets has been operating international field service projects since our founding in 2006. Our field service efforts remain at the heart of our work and continue to drive our mission.
Field service projects provide direct veterinary care to animals in need worldwide. These services are also provided at no cost to local pet owners and communities.
Furthermore, these projects target both human and animal health issues. They address pet overpopulation, disease prevention and treatment, herd health as well as decreasing the spread of zoonotic diseases and more.
Volunteer opportunities exist on the majority of projects operated each year. You can learn more about our veterinary field projects here

Project Spotlight: Dominican Republic

While the Dominican Republic remains a popular tourist and beach destination, there is still much progress to be made in relation to animal health on the island. More specifically, uncontrolled reproduction amongst small animals continues to be a problem. This unfortunately has resulted in many undesired litters, and in turn animals, being abandoned and/or going uncared for. Read Nico's Story Since 2011, World Vets has been working in the Dominican Republic to tackle the issue of pet overpopulation. Our efforts have consisted of providing assistance through spay/neuter training, large scale sterilization campaigns as well as product donations. Consequently these efforts have resulted in hundreds of animals receiving free spay/neuter surgeries as well as quality veterinary care. All of which has and continues to contribute to the overall improvement of animal health and responsible pet ownership in the area.
If you would like to take part in our Dominican Republic field service project, we have an upcoming volunteer opportunity for you! Read more here
