Greetings!

Chaminade Julienne is partnering with the Dayton Contemporary Dance Company (DCDC) to put a little more spring into the the traditional whole school Spring Speaker presentation.

On Friday, May 3, performers from DCDC will present "Step Up: Dancing our way to inclusion," a lecture demonstration that is part of the organization's lineup of educational outreach programs. School will be on a P.M. assembly schedule that day.

Lecture demonstrations are narrated, theme-based performances featuring audience engagement through participation and a question and answer segment. The 45-minute presentation will use dance as a way to educate our students about diversity, cultural awareness, and inclusion in relation to issues including racism, sexism, bullying and more. Performances incorporate music, modern dance, poetry and the spoken word to illustrate lessons on the dangers of stereotyping and the importance of acceptance.

The DCDC performance will begin at 2 p.m. in the CJ auditorium for all students. If you have questions, or would like to attend this presentation with your child, please don't hesitate to contact me at 461-3740 x206.

Sincerely,

Jason Unger, Assistant Principal  |  email

Alumnae Mother/Daughter Senior Brunch
Saturday, April 27  |  10 a.m.  |  Cafeteria
The tradition of the Mother/Daughter Brunch goes back to the days of Notre Dame Academy and we hope senior girls and their mothers will join us this year. The brunch is a chance to share in this tradition and celebrate our seniors as they go out into the world. We will share memories over a catered brunch and enjoy alumnae guest speakers. Seniors should have received an invitation in the mail.

Volunteers are needed for set up and serving the morning of the brunch. Any parents of current juniors interested in helping should please email or contact Caitlin Cronin Bennett at (937) 461-3740 x201. We are also looking for junior girls to help serve as a gift to the senior girls.

Juniors Can Earn College Credit at UD this Summer!
The University of Dayton will once again offer the Summer Advancement Program to current juniors (class of 2014 only). Through this program, students can get a feel for college-level courses, as taught by UD professors, while working to earn credits that are transferable to any college or university. Most classes run from June 23 to Aug. 3 and admission is competitive, so applicants are recommended to have an unweighted GPA of 3.0. Applications are available in the guidance office and can also be found online here at udayton.edu. There is no tuition cost for courses, but a counselor's recommendation is required and applications must be received at UD by May 1.
