Greetings!
Hear your favorite poems performed live on the CJ stage Monday, Feb. 11 at the 6th annual school-wide Poetry Out Loud recitation contest.
Poetry Out Loud encourages high school students to learn about poetry through memorization and recitation. This free event starts at 7 p.m. in the auditorium and is open to the community. Winners chosen from English classroom competitions will showcase their talents for the chance to advance to the state and national competitions this spring.
Since 2008, two different school-wide winners have gone on to win state and represent CJ in Washington, D.C. Don't miss your chance to hear who may become our school's third state champ this Monday!

DEPARTMENT NEWS
STUDENTS
Update from Student Body President Clare Geraghty '13 After an odd January regarding the weather changes, February started off on a great foot with the parent dances! I know for a fact that Father/Daughter Dance was a big hit and I'm sure that the Mother/Son was just the same! And CJ's Blood Drive was also a huge success as we were able to save 222 lives! This month, there are three four-day weeks and one four-day weekend, so many students are looking forward to nice breaks. New construction has limited our hallway space and stairwells, so all students are having to deal with the congestion getting to class. Hallway traffic is typically very slow, but that does not mean that our school work will slow down whatsoever. Mr. Marshall and I have begun to brainstorm some ideas to decrease traffic in the hallways and at dismissal. Our annual Poetry Out Loud Competition is next Monday, Feb. 11, and Science Fair projects are being judged and graded tonight! . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .

Featured Faculty & Staff Member
Fr. Matt Robben
Father Matthew (Matt) Robben is enjoying his year of firsts. On May 19, 2012, he was ordained a priest for the Archdiocese of Cincinnati, graduated with a Master of Divinity, was assigned to St Peter Parish in Huber Heights as "weekend help", and was assigned full-time as teacher and chaplain at CJ.
By the end of the school year, Fr. Matt will have taught a two-to-three week lesson in every religion class. He also helps plan and celebrate school liturgies. If that wasn't enough firsts, he has also put his college bowling experience to use as the assistant coach for the women's varsity bowling team.
Fr. Matt grew up in Harrison, Ohio on a large dairy farm, the second youngest of 14 alphabetically named children. He attended Catholic schools through grade 12 and later studied at the University of Cincinnati, where he bowled for the Bearcats and earned a degree in history with the intent of becoming a high school teacher. While studying for his Master of Education, Fr. Matt finally answered God's call to the priesthood; the call he has heard since he was five.
This summer, Fr. Matt intends to complete his thesis on the subject of "Loneliness and Priestly Formation: a Biblical Perspective" and receive his Master in Biblical Studies from the Athenaeum of Ohio Mt. St. Mary Seminary. In his free time, Fr. Matt enjoys bowling, golf, softball, watching movies, cooking, baking, sewing, reading a good book in the haymile of a tin roofed barn in the rain, and traveling.
Visit Fr. Matt's page at cjeagles.org to learn more.
