Greetings!

Chaminade Julienne will offer a Chinese 1 and 2 language course to high school students beginning Jan. 21 and running through March 27. Classes will be held concurrently at CJ on Monday and Wednesday evenings from 3:30 to 4:30 p.m. The 10-week program -- worth ¼ language credit via CJ's Flex Credit option -- costs $200 to enroll. All teaching materials will be provided.

The second semester Chinese course will again be taught by current CJ parent Mrs. Kelly Kirsch, who has formally provided foreign language instruction to students at both Holy Angels and Incarnation grade schools. This offering is a joint initiative between CJ and Alter high schools.

Classes are limited to 20 students each and are expected to fill quickly. If you have questions or would like to register your child, please email Mrs. Kirsch directly at kellykirsch@kellykirsch.com.

Sincerely,

Health Forms for Kairos Retreatants

Complete one form for each medication. Authorization from a doctor is required for all medications, even if they are over-the-counter, and all medications are required to be kept by staff.

Students are not allowed to carry or self-administer their own medications unless it is an asthma inhaler or epi-pen, in which case an Authorization for Self-Carry Administration of Medication form must be on file with the nurse. All health forms can be downloaded and printed  online at cjeagles.org.

For more details, please refer to the Medication Administration during Overnight School Trips Procedure. With questions, please contact the Health Clinic at 461-3740 x227.

Brad Kassner

Brad Kassner

Brad has enjoyed his time serving the students of Chaminade Julienne as both a coach and faculty member. He has taught math, science and summer gym, and coached Eagles football, wrestling and Science Olympiad teams since the 2006-07 school year.

Brad began his career at CJ with a bachelor's degree in Physics from Wittenberg University. In 2010, he became certified to teach Project Lead the Way (PLTW) engineering curriculum for introductory and secondary level PLTW courses in Engineering Design and Digital Electronics.

On Friday, Jan. 18, Brad will be leaving CJ to move to San Angelo, Texas with his newlywed wife, an officer in the United States Air Force, who will begin training later this month at Goodfellow Air Force Base. While sad to be leaving, he feels blessed to have been part of the CJ community for nearly seven years.

"I matured as a teacher at Chaminade Julienne," Brad said. "Regardless of where my travels take me, this school has made a lasting impression on me. There will always be a special place in my heart for CJ."
