Greetings!
February 26, 2013 - Welcome to another issue of "Independent Publishing Now" celebrating YOU, our members! Tomorrow is National No-brainer Day! According to dictionary.com a "no-brainer" is described as anything requiring little thought or effort. And, it is recommended that on this day you do those things that are the least taxing on your noodle. So, with that in mind, the perfect no-brainer might be to send your publishing questions to our Ask The Experts Online program for free, prompt, professional advice. Or, another no-brainer might be to register for the upcoming IBPA Publishing University in Chicago for top-notch publishing instruction and an Ask the Experts match-up. Whatever you decide to do, try not to over think it and don't forget to send us your photos of events, signings, fun displays and seasonal activities. It's a no-brainer that we want them! If you've discovered a helpful site, found a better way of doing something or have a tip that will save other members time or money, please pass it along and we'll share it on your behalf. And, as always, if you have a question, remember to give us a call, anytime. If we don't have the answer, we'll find it for you! |
IBPA Member Highlights & Happenings
EgretBooks.com is excited that their author, Roberto Moulun's book, The Iguana Speaks My Name, was named by Kirkus Reviews as one of the top 25 Indie books of 2012. Quite an accomplishment, they said, considering there were nearly 250,000 titles from independent authors last year. The full story is on the Kirkus Reviews website at https://www.kirkusreviews.com/lists/best-of-indie-2012-top-25/.
Speaking of Kirkus Reviews, Diomo Books let us know that their title, Living the Life You Love: The No-Nonsense Guide to Total Transformation by Paula Renaye was named to Kirkus Reviews Best of 2012. It was one of only four self-help and how-to books that made the top 100 Indie list. The book had also received a starred review, was a critics' pick selection and the author was interviewed by Kirkus Reviews. You can read the interview here!
Amber Books, the award winning imprint of Phoenix, AZ based, Amber Communications Group, Inc., was announced as an NAACP Image Award winner for "Best Literary Work - Youth/Teens" - for its title, Obama Talks Back: Global Lessons - A Dialogue With America's Young Leaders by Gregory J. Reed, Esq., and has earned an NAACP Image Award for Literature at the 44th Annual NAACP Image Awards Show, Shrine Auditorium, Los Angeles, CA, February 1, 2013. Congratulations!
Metal Mouth Media just launched revised/expanded/full-color editions of its award-winning, sanity-saving Braces Cookbooks. The Braces Cookbook: Recipes You (and Your Orthodontist) Will Love (geared to teens and families) and The Braces Cookbook 2: Comfort Food with a Gourmet Touch. The recipes have been featured in NYMetroParents.com, helping spread the word to the five million peeps with silver smiles (or those crafty hidden braces). Corporate sales are also taking off, with a recent quantity purchase by OrthoAccel, makers of the AccleDent treatment acceleration device. Great news!
Are you addicted to Facebook? If you are then this just published article in The Huffington Post featuring Live Consciously Publishing's new title The Facebook Diet! The title has also been covered in Campus Circle, Family Health and Wellness Mag and it's picked up reviews from The Midwest Book Review and Feathered Quill.
We've received so many great pictures and announcements that we spilled over to our Facebook page. Please click here for more Members in Action photos! |
