Take Hunger Personally with a Sodexo Foundation Youth Grant
|
More than 16 million children live in food insecure homes, not always sure where their next meal will come from.
That's why YSA and Sodexo Foundation are calling on young people to "take hunger personally" and join the fight to end childhood hunger. Sodexo Foundation Youth Grants of $500 grants are available for youth-led service projects that bring together young people, families, Sodexo employees and other community members to address childhood hunger.
U.S. young people, ages 5-25, are eligible to apply. Projects will take place on or around Global Youth Service Day, April 26-28, 2013. Applications are due by midnight January 31, 2013.

The Warrior's Heart: Mission Planning Guide
 Building off the enormous success of The Heart and The Fist, Eric Greitens' new book The Warrior's Heart brings his adventures to life for teens, sharing stories of friendship, struggle, and hard-earned wisdom. UnitedHealth HEROES Grants

YSA and UnitedHealthcare are inviting schools and other community-based nonprofit organizations to Step into Service by applying for UnitedHealth HEROES grants. Grants of up to $1,000 are available for youth-led service-learning projects which aim to combat childhood obesity through walking, running or hiking programs. America's Most Fearless Changemakers
Deadline: October 15
Finding Fearless is a nationwide campaign to fund America's Most Fearless Changemakers, presented by the Case Foundation in partnership with Microsoft and REI. Participants will have the opportunity to compete for $670,000 in grants and prizes. $10,000 grants from the Case Foundation will be awarded to each of the top 12 highest scored submissions. The next 8 runners-up will receive grants of $1,500 each. And, all 20 winners will receive a $25,000 software grant from Microsoft and a $100 gift card from REI! http://bit.ly/UNPuMz

GenerationOn Club Start Up Grants

GenerationOn is offering 50 start-up grants of $300 each to support generationOn Kids Care Clubs (ages 5-10) and generationOn Service Clubs (ages 11-18) that register by November 15, 2012. Grantees must complete and report back on at least one service project by May 31, 2013. GenerationOn Clubs are an ideal way to rally caring youth and their adult allies in service around issues they see every day. Ben Baxter & Morristown Community Soup Kitchen Youth Council
Morristown, NJ
YSA recognizes Ben Baxter, a student at Bernardsville Middle School in Morristown, New Jersey, and the Morristown Community Soup Kitchen Youth Council. As a recipient of a Sodexo Foundation Youth Grant, Ben led his classmates in "Couponing Cubed." He reflects on his project in a guest blog on YSA.org:
"At a Morristown Community Soup Kitchen (CSK) Youth Council meeting, a peer suggested the idea of collecting coupons to extend the purchasing power of donated funds. Although I was the lead in this effort, our team of ten Bernardsville Middle School students collaborated on the EXTREME COUPONING idea to get more 'bang for our buck.'" No Kid Hungry, Every Kid Healthy
No Kid Hungry, Every Kid Healthy is a great turn-key program that helps students to begin to develop life-long healthy eating habits while raising funds to make sure that children less fortunate can grow up healthy too. Students choose one or more "Every Kid Healthy Activities" during the program. Coordinators will receive a package with helpful hints for organizing the event, a t-shirt, handouts for every student and posters for the school.
