Leander - Kress' birthday - Leander shared that he got off easy with the celebration of Kress' birthday as she and the neighborhood ladies have a tradition of celebrating by getting together and drinking wine from their birthday glasses. A good time was had by all!

This past Wed several members (John Fazel, Thomas Peeks, Joe Bettencourt, Claire Roberts and Mark Roberts) represented us at the Fab 5 Inter-Club meeting. Claire was a last minute substitute for a flu-ridden Rich Shearer in the joke contest - she didn't win but her joke wasn't the worst! For a small bribe, she will share her joke with you....

Brad Davis and Laura Day welcomed our newest member Marty Cryan! Marty's wife Anne and his Rotary sponsor Alex Arnold stood with him while Brad 'welcomed' him. Brad had a hard time keeping control of the introduction but, in the end, Marty joined us anyway!!

Cal presented our other President Elect (we need a shorter title for him) Leander Hauri, with his Paul Harris fellowship recognition. Thank you Leander for your support of the Rotary Foundation.

Laura noted that of the 71 clubs she has visited we are the only ones who fined her. And the main purpose of her visit was to thank us for our $1,000 donation for Kenya Smiles. She reported that overall contributions to date are $46,000, with a 3.5 times match by the Rotary Foundation!
