What Types of Plastics Can Be Recycled?

Plastics are identified using a numbering system of 1 through 7. Usually located on the bottom of the container, the number corresponds to a specific type of plastic. Most plastics are recyclable except for polystyrene meat trays, egg cartons and packaging peanuts. Examples of how the various plastic types are used in ordinary household products are shown below:
