Letters

This week we complete our reading of Acts, and on  Wednesday we begin to read Romans. You will notice right away the difference in style of writing. This is a letter, written to a church, with a very specific message. Paul's writing is complex; the sentences are long and sometimes confusing. It is not a quick read (like the Gospel of Mark, for example) but it is an incredibly rewarding read! The verses are so densely packed that one could ponder a long time on any given passage; for example on Friday we read Romans 6: 1-11. This is a profound statement of what it means to die and rise with Christ.
Facebook Question

Isn't is fascinating that a collection of letters written by a man who lived nearly 2000 years ago not only exist today, but are continually read, studied, prayed about, and even put to music and sung?! Two thousand-year-old letters! When was the last time you wrote a letter? To whom did you right? What letter(s) do you have tucked away and saved so as to cherish again and again?

Weekly Encouragement

Our journey through the Bible is quickly approaching the end. Dec. 31 is just 53 days away (from Sunday)! It will feel like a whirlwind as we fly through letter after letter! Remember to take time to savor the quiet time you spend in the Word. It is not too early to begin to give consideration to what you will do in the new year to discipline yourself in the habit of devotion you have established this year.
