Can These Bones Live?

In case you haven't noticed, the prophets were pretty creative when it came to delivering their messages. Some were spoken, some were written, others were acted out. Perhaps Ezekiel was the most creative of all. He ate the written scroll (see chapter 3) and painted vivid, unforgettable word pictures of his visions (for example, chapter one).

We read what may be his best-known prophecy on Wednesday; the Valley of the Dry Bones, Ezekiel 37. It's a prophecy of resurrection and restoration and hope. Notice that the whole prophesy takes shape around the breath of God, which is in the end, and in the beginning for that matter, responsible for life. "Oh my people, I will put my spirit within you and you shall live."

Ezekiel speaks to the exiles in Babylon; to a people who are a long way from home both literally and spiritually. Ezekiel reminds them of their spiritual home in God.
Facebook Question

Our lives can sometimes spin out of control and before we know what happened, we find ourselves spiritually lost. The wonder is, though we may be lost, we are never abandoned. Never. Our God is always present, always leading, always guiding, always. What word of comfort does Ezekiel speak to the spiritually lost?

Weekly Encouragement

I was at a meeting not too long ago when someone said: "I would just like to squeeze another month into this summer." Do you ever feel like that? Like there just isn't enough time to accomplish everything you want? Not enough time to fit it all in? Not enough time to rest? If so, consider this: take fifteen minutes a day. Just fifteen. Fifteen a day to read the Bible and listen to God. Fifteen minutes a day converts into 91 hours in a year. 91 hours devoted to God. Make it the first fifteen or the last fifteen or fifteen at some appointed hour. But take fifteen for God. Every day.
