This week's read begins with Isaiah, chapters 24 - 27, under the heading Care of the Soul. What a beautiful title and how appropriate for our summer of re-creation. The contemplation by Dallas Willard on Day 187 speaks of the example of Jesus who modeled caring for the soul with a just right balance of solitude, Bible study, worship, prayer, and service.

Eugene Peterson wrote: "The book of Isaiah is expansive, dealing with virtually everything that is involved in being a people of God on this planet Earth." If that is so, then your reading this week, and next, promises to be both remarkably relevant and renewing!

As a committed list maker I have explored and tried out just about every To-do task organizer that exists. My current favorite is called Workflowy. It allows me to have a very long list with bullet points that collapse and expand depending on the week's priorities.

Regardless of the list maker I use, number one on my To-do everyday is: Read the Bible. What I read lays a foundation for the day and gives perspective to decisions and helps to prioritize tasks. I am reminded who I am and whose I am. It is consistently the one task that gets completed and I am convinced that it is what allows me to accomplish whatever else is on my agenda for each day.
