I had an hour in the car the other day and was so excited that I could listen to the audio Bible and maybe get ahead in our reading. So, for an entire hour I listened to the great Old Testament story and then, just five minutes from my destination, I thought to myself ... I think I have already read this ???

I am sorry to tell you this, but that may very well be your experience this coming week. The Chronicler repeats the narrative we have recently completed in Kings. How do you best go forward with the same material? Two thoughts: One, listen for what new thing God is trying to say to you; and two, pay close attention to the Contemplations. Let them serve as a beacon to pull you along. I especially like the one that occurs on Day 101.

In my case, turns out, I really was re-reading ... somehow my audio Bible rewound to Samuel instead of moving forward in Kings. It really was all a repeat! I was bothered that I had just spent an entire hour missing out on making progress but frankly, more troubling, is the sad truth that I didn't notice!
