Cliffhangers Ahead

Abraham Entertains Three Angels by He Qi
Over the course of the next seven days we will read of God's response to the world broken apart by sin (Genesis 3). Abraham is called and a promise is made (Genesis 12). God will not walk away and leave us to ourselves. God remains committed to the world He made and its divine design. He will not let us go. Not ever.

There are several cliffhangers ahead:
  • How will God's promises be fulfilled when Sarah is barren?
  • What will Abraham do in response to God's command to sacrifice the only heir of the promise?
  • What are we to make of the death of Abraham and the unfulfilled promises?
And finally, what will become of those contentious twin boys, Esau and Jacob? The resolution of each one of the cliffhangers, offers profound insight into the way God provides for, protects, and preserves his people.

Find a Bible

Most participants will be using The NRSV Daily Bible published by Harper Books. This Bible is divided into 365 daily readings -- each one a brief 20-minute read -- followed by a prayer and brief meditation.
  • Copies of The NRSV Daily Bible are available for purchase from the church for $20 at the hospitality desk in the Atrium.
  • Three copies of The NRSV Daily Bible are in the Nook for use in that space. Please do not remove them from the Nook.
  • Mobile editions of The NRSV Daily Bible are available for mobile reading devices like the Amazon Kindle.
  • You could, of course, read a Bible that you already have on hand. You just won't get the meditations and prayers.
