This Weekend - Day of Pentecost

This weekend is The Day of Pentecost. The readings include Acts 2:1-21 and John 7: 37-39.

On the last day of the festival, the great day, while Jesus was standing there, he cried out, 'Let anyone who is thirsty come to me, and let the one who believes in me drink. As the scripture has said, "Out of the believer's heart shall flow rivers of living water." ' Now he said this about the Spirit, which believers in him were to receive; for as yet there was no Spirit, because Jesus was not yet glorified.

Recommended for Call - Rev. Mark Schmid

Following worship services on June 14, 15 and 16, we will hold special congregational meetings to ratify the unanimous recommendations of the Church Council and the Call Committee to extend a call to Pastor Mark Schmid to be St. Philip the Deacon's next Executive Pastor. Please join us for this important vote in the life of our congregation!
Summer Construction Begins June 16

Watch for major changes to our building beginning June 16. These changes -- part of our Let Your Light Shine Capital Appeal -- will impact access to the West Welcome Area, the Fellowship Hall and the Kitchen. Because these areas will be inaccessible for much of the summer, we'll begin serving coffee and donuts in the Center for Faith & Life (downstairs, near the East entrance) beginning June 15.

Thanks for your patience during this renovation, which promises to make our church facility more welcoming and hospitable to visitors and guests. For more about the appeal, see the story and links below. Thank you to everyone who is helping to make these improvements possible!
Let Your Light Shine: 2014-2017 Capital Appeal

Thank you to everyone who has already so generously responded to this appeal. As we approach our goal, our prayer is that all of our members will participate in it.

You can learn more about the capital appeal on our website, and watch a video about the goals of the campaign. Thank you for your support of this appeal, and for your continued partnership in the gospel at St. Philip the Deacon.

O Lord, how manifold are your works!

In wisdom you have made them all; the earth is full of your creatures.

Yonder is the sea, great and wide, creeping things innumerable are there, living things both small and great.

There go the ships, and Leviathan that you formed to sport in it.

These all look to you to give them their food in due season;

when you give to them, they gather it up; when you open your hand, they are filled with good things.

When you hide your face, they are dismayed; when you take away their breath, they die and return to their dust.

When you send forth your spirit, they are created; and you renew the face of the ground.

May the glory of the Lord endure for ever; may the Lord rejoice in his works,

who looks on the earth and it trembles, who touches the mountains and they smoke.

I will sing to the Lord as long as I live; I will sing praise to my God while I have being.

May my meditation be pleasing to him, for I rejoice in the Lord.

Let sinners be consumed from the earth, and let the wicked be no more.

Bless the Lord, O my soul.

Praise the Lord!

- Psalm 68:1-10, 32-35
