Long time Member, Katerina, has suggested this remembering what a good time was had by all last year. Thank you Katerina. During regular Share pick up hours. All will be welcome, so tell your neighbors and friends. More details later.Welcome your contacts to your calendar of events. Provide some general information about the events they will be viewing below. Build up the anticipation for what will be coming in the days, weeks, and months ahead.
Hi Folks!
Three e-mails in one week----I'm really pushing my luck here, not to mention my editor's patience. But I want to let CSA Members know what will be in the Share this week, and there are just a couple of things I want to mention
This Week's Share

What you can expect in the Share this week: Leeks, Turnips, Daikons, Kale, fresh Garlic, Portuguese Cabbage, Mixed Greens, Winter Squash and plenty of Apples.

Pick Your Own will include White Radishes, Extra Daikon and Turnips----these can be stored in your fridge for months-----and an assortment of Greens still in the fields.

For Our CSA Members
Have We Got A BOGO for You

Our new Hens are laying eggs like there's no tomorrow. I think it's this extended mild, sunny weather this Fall. Anyway, here's the deal: if you buy one dozen we'll give you a second dozen at no charge. There will be some nice Egg Recipes available in the Barn and with the Holidays coming you can likely use the extra eggs. And if a true BOGO won't entice you we'll give you a couple of eggs to take home and try! CSA Members only.

If you're not a CSA member, we invite you to stop by on Saturday from 11a to 3p to purchase our fresh eggs. Remember, no Farmers' Market this Sunday!
This Is Your Chance

Please don't forget this is the time to save five percent on 2013 CSA Shares in conjunction with the Community Supported Seed program at High Mowing Organic Seeds. You can find the 2013 CSA Member Application and Brochure here. If you need more info just send me an email. This is a pretty good deal. Might want to consider bringing your checkbook to the farm. This is a cash or check only offer, we don't want to give the banks a share.

We really enjoyed our Portuguese cabbage!  We sliced it up with poultry shears so that it would be easily boiled.

We used it underneath or on the side of all kinds of rice and pasta dishes for a little extra nutrition and to beautify the plate at the same time.  Thanks for encouraging us to enjoy it more.  It is really quite wonderful to know that there are so many different types of cabbage out there today, including your Portuguese cabbage.  from Annie and Timmy

Thank you Annie!

Now, November has been a mild, dry month. The pasture lane is far from sodden. And, you heard it here first; December will be quite mild and fall like. But I can't let November pass without offering you my sister Polly's favorite Frost poem.

Cheers,

Dick Chase

My November Guest

My Sorrow, when she's here with me,
  Thinks these dark days of autumn rain
Are beautiful as days can be;
She loves the bare, the withered tree;
  She walks the sodden pasture lane.

Her pleasure will not let me stay.
  She talks and I am fain to list:
She's glad the birds are gone away,
She's glad her simple worsted gray
  Is silver now with clinging mist.

The desolate, deserted trees,
  The faded earth, the heavy sky,
The beauties she so truly sees,
She thinks I have no eye for these,
  And vexes me for reason why.

Not yesterday I learned to know
  The love of bare November days
Before the coming of the snow,
But it were vain to tell he so,
  And they are better for her praise.
