Florida is Sending People - and Their Wealth - to Travis County
When you compare the net income of people moving in to Travis County minus the net income of those moving out, Travis ranks second nationally in total gains. Brian Kelsy's Civic Analytics research analyzes data from the Internal Revenue Service to calculate these changes:
"Net adjusted gross income flowing into Travis County in 2012-2013 totaled about $2.3 billion, more than double the amount for 2011-2012, and nearly all (97%) of it came from people moving to Travis County from other states."
Florida is the state contributing the most newcomers to our community, surpassing California as the biggest "donor state." Floridians brought $1.1 billion of wealth to our community in 2012-2013.

Gen X'ers (aged 35-44) and Millenials (aged 25-34) had seen the starkest decline in homeownership rates, due in part to a lack of supply at the lower end of the market and tighter credit.
