Why "person-centered" care?
With person-centered care, individual service providers shift their stance from the conventional "expert" to that of active and engaged ally, working to support the person's goals and hopes, and to highlight and build upon existing strengths. At the organization and system level, people help develop and design what is offered, and their experiential knowledge is considered an essential and valuable asset. In making these shifts together, we share an aspiration to do better in partnership and unleash the power of all members of our community.
Participants will...
- Learn different ways that person-centered care is being provided from a wide variety of organizations in Austin and surrounding areas.
- Make discoveries about the culture shift that must take place for services to be provided in a person-centered way.
- Gain tangible takeaways and identify specific actions individuals can take to support person-centered care, regardless of role or position within their organization and community.
- Spark new ways to invite collaboration and partnership to support more person-centered services throughout Austin and surrounding areas.
