"I Have a Dream" hosts annual Dream-Maker Breakfast

Donations will help sponsor a new class of 50 low-income youth
in Longmont

Boulder, CO (February 13) - The "I Have a Dream" Foundation of Boulder County is hosting its 2013 Longmont Dream-Maker Breakfast to raise awareness and funds to sponsor low-income youth (Dreamers) for a new Dreamer Class. Proceeds raised during the Breakfast will support the sponsorship of 50 low-income youth in the Longmont community for a period of ten plus years, from second grade through high school graduation, and to and through post-secondary education. Upon high-school graduation, each Dreamer will receive a scholarship to use toward college or vocational school. "I Have a Dream's" goal is to launch the class in Spring 2013.

During the event, "I Have a Dream" staff and board members, as well as Dreamers and other supporters, will provide testimonials addressing the program's benefits for the Dreamers, their families, and the community. Lori Canova, CEO, states, "With Dreamers from a current Longmont Dreamer class slated to graduate this spring, the Breakfast is an important step to continue the organization's successful presence in the Longmont community working to motivate and empower the low-income youth to achieve their education and career goals. We anticipate another success at this year's Breakfast and welcome you to join us!"

About "I Have a Dream" Foundation of Boulder County
Since 1990, the award-winning "I Have A Dream" Foundation of Boulder County has assisted 600 children from low-income areas in achieving their education and career goals by providing long-term personal and academic support, tutoring, mentoring and four-year tuition-assistance scholarships to each graduating student. The program follows the national model established in New York in 1981 by founder Eugene Lang. The organization sponsors entire groups of students from elementary schools, or from low-income housing sites, and works with these children and their families through high school graduation and into post-high school education. "I Have a Dream" Boulder County has doubled expected graduation rates for those in its program and has awarded over $1 million in scholarships to date. Currently, there are six active "I Have a Dream" classes in Boulder County, two in each Boulder, Longmont, and Lafayette. Learn more...
