Many have already started planning their 2014 racing season! This is a great way to stay focused over the holidays; this tends to be the time of year when we usually like to begin the hibernation process! Consider the new 2014 schedule; we have a new line up of events that are sure to shake things up!

What happened to Victoria's Duathlon  you ask?

We always hate to say goodbye to races especially ones that have been around for as long as this one. The site for Victoria's Duathlon could no longer host us in 2014. Major renovation plans at the facility eliminated our parking and transition areas making it virtually impossible to stage an event. We would like to extend a huge thank you to Ed D'Agostino and his beautiful family for all the hard work, love and attention he has put towards this event. Yes it's true, we will miss the event but we will look forward to seeing Ed out on the courses racing more this year! This does mean our schedule will begin just a little bit later. Milton Triathlon will be our season's kick off. I'm sure you will all appreciate the extra few weeks to add the finishing touches to your training. For our land lovers please remember we still have a Duathlon at Milton as well. As a matter of fact, we always have a duathlon at each and every one of our 8 weekend events!

What happened to Muskoka 5150 and Sprint Events?

One other major change for us this year is the elimination of the 5150 and Sprint event in Muskoka. We believe with the progression of sport in Ontario people are choosing to travel less and race more. Its seems the longer the distance the more people are willing to travel hence, the shorter the race distance, the less they are willing to travel. Our Subaru Ironman 70.3 Muskoka seems to be gaining in popularity and is world renowned for its welcoming and triathlete friendly support but its difficult to get athletes to the Muskoka region for the shorter distances.

So where does that leave us? We looked at a lot of event sites in the last few months; many were athletes suggestions. We think we have two sites that are going to be very popular. Both new sites are in easy-to-get- to destinations and will most definitely have widespread appeal. Sprint athletes are our focus here! The whole day will be devoted to you!

We are in the process of updating the Subaru Series Website and all the other very important race specifics so please stay tuned for up-to-the-minute reports.
