A word from the Directory Coordinator

Hello to all members of the International Milling Directory.
June has been an excellent month for the International Milling Directory. We were understandably excited about returning to exhibit at Cereals where we met some great companies and individuals, saw some brilliant new technology and distributed hundreds of copies of the International Milling Directory and our sister magazine, Grain & Feed Milling Technology. For us, we see the post-harvest technology section of Cereals becoming a very important part of future events as it brings more UK and international companies to this large event that takes place in our home territory.
Following Cereals, this month alone has been very active in renewals of listings and advertising with several leading members including:
Agromatic (Switzerland)
Seedburo (USA)
Breitenbach (Germany)
Arodo (Belgium)
Rota Val (UK)
There has also been a new advertising deal with FineTek (Taiwan) and Imas (Turkey) which has been very encouraging for meeting our ambition for this edition to be the biggest and best yet.
This newsletter supports these events and publications alike so we hope it brings a set of interesting updates for you all that inspires you to get out there and enjoy our publications and the industry events.
Lastly, I encourage you to register for the IMD before we publish the new edition soon. It starts from free for a company listing and 2 product and services. Advertising and marketing opportunities are available as well.

nabim announces finalists in the search for the 2013 UK champion milling wheat grower
nabim announces finalists in the search for the 2013 UK champion milling wheat grower nabim, supported by HGCA, announced the three farmer finalists for the 2013 Milling Wheat Challenge at the Cereals Event on Wednesday June 12, 2013. Now in its fourth year, the aim of the Challenge is to find the country's best milling wheat grower. The 2013 finalists are: · Stephen Craggs, East Close Farm, Sedgefield, Stockton-on-Tees · James Loder-Symonds, Denne Hill Farm, Womenswold, Canterbury, Kent · Nick & David Philp, Church Farm, Waltham St Lawrence, Reading, Berks. Martin Savage, nabim's trade policy manager, said the standard of the entries remains very high and the judges had a tough job selecting the finalists. "Each of these growers farm significant areas with wheat as their main crop. All three are forward-thinking, very technically competent and consistently grow quality crops of bread-making wheats." The Challenge has become established as a formal recognition by Britain's flour millers of how the country's best growers combine attention to detail with end-customer awareness and business acumen to create a win: win for the whole wheat chain. Savage added, "UK flour millers are committed to UK wheat and to the farmers who grow it because more than 80 percent of the wheat we mill comes from UK farmers. We work closely with plant breeders and others in the chain to ensure there is a good supply of top quality milling wheat. The Milling Wheat Challenge is very important to nabim because we want to support and encourage farmers to grow the wheat our bread-making customers require." Read more...

CropTech-FeedTech Debate continues online
GFMT's publisher, Roger Gilbert chaired the first CropTech-FeedTech Debate on 'Digital Engineering in the Feed Manufacturing Industry' held at VIV Asia in Bangkok on March 13, 2013. It involved six leading equipment manufacturers.
Unlike previous seminars and conferences, the format of this event gave presenters just five minutes to introduce their company and their leading technology before they were asked to address specific questions about the application of their new technologies and how they impact both the production of the equipment itself and how they would benefit the end user. The result of this 'debate' were revealing.
The meeting finished with an open session with the audience who had the opportunity to question the panelists and express their views. What a refreshing exchange of views we had!
As a result the panelists agreed that we should continue the 'debate' online. VNU, the organiser of VIV and VIV-sponsored events around the world, plans to offer the 'face-to-face' debate under the heading of CropTech-FeedTech at all its future events. In the meantime the discussion will continue online between events through a LinkedIn group called CropTech-FeedTech, which is kindly being hosted by VNU under VIV Corporate.
As chairman of this and future CropTech-FeedTech debates, Roger Gilbert has been asked to moderate this LinkedIn Group on behalf of panelists and participants.
Join us in the CropTech-FeedTech big debate. If you are a supplier company to the feed industry, a feed manufacturer or anyone else who works in or has an interest in our industry please feel free to make a comment or raise a question and our presenters will answer it.
Who benefits from advances in 'Digital Engineering in the Feed Manufacturing Industry' and why? Who should benefit but is not?
Head over to LinkedIn and the CropTech-FeedTech group to get involved.
