We have just returned from Moscow and VIV Russia where we witnessed another well-organised exhibition. Perendale Publishers was honoured to have chaired (and assisted in organising) the CropTech-FeedTech Conference - The unique 'debate' on new technologies in feed manufacturing. We will be participating in IndoLivestock 2013 - Bali, Indonesia. When we are back almost immediately we will be preparing ourselves for the Cereals 2013 in the UK. What a busy few weeks we are having! We always try to participate in as many important industry-related exhibitions as we can; when we couldn't make it we will try to make arrangement with event organisers to make sure our Milling Directory is seen and distributed. At the recommended events below copies of our current directory will be freely distributed. If you provide the milling industry with a product or service please check that your company listed in the IMD. I am sure wouldn't like to miss out on inclusion in the printed version as well as be part of our online service too. We are very proud of Milling Directory. The IMD will be distributed at more events. The next one will be Cereals. Cereals is an exhibition in the UK where we will be exhibiting for both days and meeting some of our advertisers, listed members and readers. AACCI's whole grains working group unveils new whole grain products characterisation
AACC International's (AACCI) board of directors recently approved the Whole Grains Working Group's characterisation of whole grain products. The characterisation asserts that a whole grain food product must contain 8 grams or more of whole grain per 30 grams of product. Dr Julie Miller Jones, AACCI Whole Grains working group chair, who led the association's efforts on whole grains product characterisation said that, "Currently, consumers are confused about what constitutes a whole grain food, and this characterisation provides clear guidance to those who seek to consume the recommended levels of whole grain." Grain baiting to cull feral pigs; IAOM raises $50,000 from auction; exports of rye and triticale
Grain growers in Australia are encouraged to take part in the Central Highlands Regional Council's free feral animal 1080 baiting campaign.
Michelle Janes, Biosecurity Queensland senior crop protection officer said summer crop growers would benefit from using grain bait as a control method. "Feral pigs can travel over large distances and cause significant damage to crops at grainfill," Janes warned. "Recent seasons have seen feral pig populations on the rise and valuable summer crops will soon start attracting feral pig activity." "We are impressed by the great results, especially considering we had decided not to hold a live auction this year," said Joel Hoffa, IMEF president. Read more... On July 1, 2013, new roughage tolerances for exports of Canadian triticale take effect in eastern Canada. On August 1, 2013, new roughage tolerances for exports of Canadian rye and triticale take effect in western Canada. Currently, commercial cleanliness requirements in Rye, Canada Western (CW) and Triticale, Canada (CAN) do not include tolerances for roughage. VIV Russia report
Over the past three days we have witnessed the success of another VIV show. This is the first time Grain and Feed Milling Technology has attended in Russia. VIV Russia 2013 is concluding today after three impressive days in the bright and modern Crocus Expo Centre some 25 km from the centre of downtown Moscow.
VIV Russia attracted a growing number of feed exhibitors ranging from the traditional of Buhler and Amandus Kahl to newer exhibitors such as our recognised Chinese exhibitors. In fact, VIV Russia offered several country pavilions including, USA, the Netherlands, Italy, China and France.
There were over 300 exhibitors and some 6,000 visitors in attendance.
GFMT magazine supported the VIV by hosting its CropTech-FeedTech conference, which this time focused on digital technologies and engineering in the feed manufacturing industry. Companies participating in CropTech-FeedTech were Amandus Kahl, Wenger, Muyang, MTech, Cargill-Provimi and Afla Laval. All spoke about how new technologies were changing the feed manufacturing business and leading to greater efficiencies in feed and food production. The meeting was chaired by Roger Gilbert.

FIAAP Asia, VICTAM Asia and GRAPAS Asia 2014
Three exhibitions will be interconnecting in Asia in 2014 to create 'A partnership in synergy' event.
The first of these events is FIAAP Asia, the only specialist exhibition and conference for the ingredients, additives and formulation of feeds for animals, aquafeed and dry pet food.
Next is VICTAM 2014, the largest exhibition for animal feed production technology. The exhibition will include biomass pellet production machinery.
Lastly is GRAPAS, the only trade show in the Asia/Pacific region for the grain processing sectors. The show is set to profile rice and flour milling, grain processing, storage, preservation and distribution, industrial noodle and pasta production and breakfast cereal and extruded snack manufacturing.

IGC: Assessing prospects, addressing challenges
World grain and oilseed prices have retreated from their highs, but supplies remain tight following last year's poor harvests in key exporting countries. While South American crops look set to break new records this season, drought conditions in the US remain a concern, and a recovery in demand will keep supplies under pressure.

Indo Livestock 2013
The Indo Livestock 2013 Expo and Forum remarks as Indonesia's biggest Livestock, Feed, Dairy & Fisheries industry show. Formed in 2002, Indo Livestock Expo & Forum will achieve the 8th time of accomplishment this year.
