TOPNewsletter - November 2012

Dear valued subscriber/reader

Shows, shows and more shows! It's been a busy period for events and is not likely to quieten down until well after Christmas. As this e-Newsletter reaches you the Perendale team is on its way to EuroTier. Three of us will be in attendance in Hanover where we have a stand in Hall 23 C04. We would welcome you to stop by and collect a free copy of the new 21st Directory if you are attending as well.

We are promoting the ISRAMAX & IAI Expos to be held in New Delhi in mid December this year where we will be hosting two special Perendale Pavilions. This is one of India's biggest agricultural-related events (also covering aquaculture) and will become an entry point for many foreign companies wanting to develop a market among its 1.2 billion inhabitants. You will also be pleased to hear that IMD, through the activities of it's sister publications GFMT and International Aquafeed, will be distributed at this event also.

IAOM Middle East, in Jordan, will see our representative from India distributing the new Directory and copies of our magazines for us. We will be attending the extended IPPE in Atlanta towards the end of January 2013 and then in early February the 1st Global Milling Conference in India.

If you are attending one of these shows please drop by our stand or make an appointment by contacting me. We would value your opinion on how we are doing and where we can improve.

These shows are proving very important in extending the distribution of our magazines to relevant readers. As a result we have decided to include copies of the latest IMD as part of our free giveaway at these events as well.

If you can't wait to attend a show to get a copy, please quote 'EuroTier' in an email to me and I will discount a copy to you by 50%!

Mobile App demo version igc logo
If you have not seen the Perendale Application for mobile phones yet, why not try our online demo - straight in your web browser. We have even given you a 'virtual' iPad and iPhone to test it on!

The demo will give you an idea of what the web application does and why every industry professional should have the entire IMD (and more) in their pocket.

The application is free, and can be installed on your mobile by visiting

on your smart phone or tablet.
Nobody does digital in the milling industry better than us!

Sincerely

Tuti Tan

A word from the Directory Coordinator

Hello to all of our dedicated readers and valued IMD listed companies. As the winter settles in here at IMD HQ we are already feeling in festive spirit and even have beaten jolly old St. Nicholas in the giving of presents. Can you guess what they could be yet? I'll give you a clue, it comes in a box and contains the contact & product details of over 1,200 international millers, milling manufacturers and milling service providers... Still need a clue?

OK one more clue, an excess of 8,000 subscribers will receive a copy this year connecting them to the global-milling community for 2012/2013. Have you guessed it? That's right it's the 21st printed edition of the International Milling Directory and I am delighted to tell you that the first batch has been distributed and hopefully received by you out there across the world.

With more fresh copies coming in by the day it won't be long until we have sent out the entire 8,000 so if you haven't yet ordered your copy visit www.internationalmilling.com now to get your hands on one.

Or if you would like to learn about featuring in next year's directory get in touch now simply by dialing +44 1242 267703 or emailing me at alexr@perendale.co.uk.

Don't forget that we also have the IMD blog. MillingInternational has been a hub of activity since its launch earlier this year. Updated with daily news from the world of international milling and all things direct from the heart of IMD HQ, MillingInternational is your first point of daily contact with the IMD. Got something to say to the world? Share it with us and it could appear on the blog, check it out now for some examples.

Lastly you may also be aware that I had the pleasure of co-editing the latest edition of Grain & Feed Milling Technology magazine (GFMT). If you haven't ordered a copy you can find it online at www.gfmt.co.uk with a fantastic column from yours truly as well as some excellent features on pelleting and green packaging.

Next month we have some big news so stay tuned, and stay warm!

Until next time

Alex Rogers

TUCKER, GA - November 9, 2012 - The 2013 International Production & Processing Expo (IPPE) has surpassed 1,100 exhibitors, covering more than 420,000 net square feet (21+ acres) of exhibit space. Comprised of the three integrated tradeshows -- International Poultry Expo, International Feed Expo, and AMI's International Meat Expo - IPPE is continuing to grow.

"The response and excitement for the show has been overwhelming. We thought integrating the shows made sense, and the response has been even better than imagined. IPPE has instantaneously established itself as the premiere feed and protein event of the western hemisphere," remarked John Starkey, president of USPOULTRY.

"The 2013 IPPE will offer an outstanding venue for businesses to collaborate, network, learn about new products and services and solve common challenges facing the feed, poultry and meat industries. With the response so far, we expect attendees will agree that it is worth their time to come to Atlanta," said Joel G. Newman, AFIA President & CEO.

"We are gratified by the positive show of support from our supplier community. It tells us that our consolidation of shows is a winning formula for the entire industry, farm to fork," commented AMI President, J. Patrick Boyle.

The global poultry, feed and meat industry tradeshow will be held Tuesday through Thursday, January 29-31, 2013, at the Georgia World Congress Center in Atlanta, GA. The Expo will highlight the latest technology, equipment, and services used in the production and processing of poultry, meat and feed products.

The Expo will also feature dynamic education programs that will be held from January 28 through February 1, 2013 and will include the annual line-up of the International Poultry Scientific Forum, Pet Food Conference, Animal Agricultural Sustainability Summit, andInternational Feed Education Program.  The 2013 IPPE will also feature eleven new educational programs: Recalls and Public Health Investigations; Improving Food Safety, Sanitation and Maintenance; Animal Care and Handling: Focus on Poultry Processing; Meat and Poultry Processing: A Global Perspective; Consumer Trends; Plant Operations and Management; Antibiotics Conference - Current Issues for the Poultry & Egg Industry; The Future of the U.S. Egg Industry; Meat & Poultry Research Conference; Media Training for the Meat & Poultry Industry; and Poultry Handling and Transportation Quality "Train the Trainer" Workshop. There is nothing quite like IPPE

January 28 - February 1, 2013, Atlanta, USA. The integration of three internationally recognised trade shows brings suppliers and buyers together for education, technology exchange and networking encompassing the entire spectrum of farm to table.

This year, the combination of the International Feed Expo (IFE), the International Poultry Expo (IPE), and the American Meat Institute's International Meat Expo (IME) will attract over 25,000 attendees from over 100 countries and over 1,000 exhibitors.

Who is IPPE aimed at?

The International Feed Expo, a component of the IPPE, is an annual tradeshow designed for feed and pet food manufacturers, feed ingredient manufacturers, equipment manufacturers and anyone involved in the manufacturing and production of feed and pet food. In addition to the International Feed Expo component, also included in the integrated conference are the International Poultry Expo and International Meat Expo, which focus on the needs of poultry and egg producers and the processing of poultry, pork, beef and veal.

What are the themes of IPPE?

Pneumatic Conveying of Bulk Solids Course

Pneumatic conveying is one of the most commonly used means of transporting bulk solids. Applications range from large scale ship bulk cargo unloaders through to small in-plant systems.

The Wolfson Centre has wide experience of different pneumatic conveying systems and the types of problems that can arise as a result of mismatching materials, feeders, pipe designs, or air movers to one another. The presenters have pooled their vast knowledge and experience in dealing with these problems to deliver a 2 day course, twice a year, which will cover operational and design issues associated with such systems.

Day 3 is a practical session (optional) in their laboratory.

For further details on the course, and on-line booking, please visit www.bulksolids.com
