Plein Air Event in RAM's Wustum Gardens
Saturday, July 12, 2014
The Racine Art Museum is pleased to announce its first plein air event to be held on Saturday, July 12. Sponsored in part by an ArtSeed grant from the Racine Arts Council, this free community celebration welcomes artists to paint and/or draw in the beautiful gardens at RAM's Wustum Museum of Fine Arts.
Originally designed by landscape architect Alfred Boerner, Wustum's gardens are filled with a variety of foliage and flora to inspire you. They have served as a stunning backdrop for many paintings and as the background for memorable events and weddings. Capture their beauty in your plein air drawing or painting.
Kids can participate too
Kids, ages 7-13, can also join in the experience and register for a one of two kids' sessions held in the afternoon. Watercolor paints, paper, and materials will be provided for the children's event. An Art Educator will be on hand to give guidance and directions.
Awards will be presented at the artist reception starting at 5:00 pm that night. First, second, and third place will be awarded to adults. For kids, winners from each age category - Ages 7-9, Ages 10-13, and Ages 14-16 - will be selected.
