Deliver Me From People

Lord, Deliver Me From People

Bishop Eugene Reeves Speaks With the Voice and Wisdom of A Seasoned Life Coach

"Even the best relationships can be tricky. Some people seem to suck the life out of us when we aren't looking, while others leave lasting impressions of rejection or loss. We yearn to be released from the stings of past or present relationships. I want you to break free from the the stigma of believing what people tell you about your worth. You can experience a better future when God gives you a picture of your value in His eyes!"  - Bishop E.V. Reeves

Welcome to our October newsletter. This month we celebrate 21 years in ministry! As a family we have grown from a new born ministry, through the elementary years and the ups and down of our teens to an adult ready to move out to our own new place. Let the abundance of God's grace go with us as we MOVE FORWARD into our new home. We pray you continue to bless the house with your financial commitment to Moving Forward. We also pray you are continually blessed and encouraged by our newsletter to live a more abundant life.

Change Is In The Air

The summer season is over and autumn is here. For us, autumn is the time of year that is marked by great change. The leaves on the trees change colors and begin to fall off. The temperature changes as the air becomes cooler and crisper. And daylight changes more quickly into night as the days grow shorter and shorter. Everywhere we look we see change all around us. Generally speaking, most people dislike change, maybe because of the uncertainty and discomfort that change can sometimes bring.  However, change can be good and positive when we approach it with the right attitude. The key to successful change is that we must have enough faith to continue to follow the Lord despite any and every obstacle that may come to try and hinder us. This was a lesson that the Israelites had a difficult time learning.

The children of Israel confronted change as they made their journey from the bondage of Egypt, to the blessings of the Promised Land. Unfortunately, along the way, many of them lost their faith in God and began to murmur and complain against Him, losing sight of His faithfulness and precious promises and focusing only on their current circumstance. This lack of faith caused many of them to die in the wilderness. What they didn't understand is that whenever we move towards our destiny we will encounter a wilderness experience. The wilderness always lies between our past and the hope of our future. The wilderness is temporary and God never plans for us to linger there long. Instead, He uses the wilderness to test us and prepare our hearts for where He is taking us so that when we get there we are fully prepared to possess all that God has for us.

I believe 2015 is going to be a year of great transition for us at The Life. God has great things in store for us. "A Flood Is Coming Our Way". We just need some Fearless Believers who know that no matter how things look, God is control and faithful to fulfill every promise that He has made. Stay in the fight. Keep the faith. Our greater is on the way.

Women's Book Club

Join The Women of Excellence for our second annual Book Club discussion.  It will be Saturday, October 11 from 10:00am until NoonPlease read the book in its entirety.

Although fictional, the book selection of "Hinds' Feet on High Places," is an awesome opportunity to come together to discuss important questions and thought processes that we experience while on this journey called, "the Christian walk."  In your reading, you understand the author's appeal to self-assess the very questions, thoughts and feelings of apprehension that each of us wrestle with.  It is evident that the author's writings are with the emphasis of a divine assignment; stirring the heart and soul of the reader that God desires that we ultimately adapt the response of the main character, Much Afraid.

So grab your coffee, tea, or whatever your choice of morning beverage and let's ascend to the high places!  This will be a time of great fellowship with your sisters, our First Lady, and to enjoy an exciting book discussion.

Please spread the word to other ladies who may be interested.  Non-members are always welcome!

We hope to see you there!

Let The Healing Begin In Our Marriages

By Regina Mangum

James 5:16 NIV "Therefore confess your sins to each other and pray for each other so that you may be healed.  The prayer of a righteous man is powerful and effective."

Healing...the first thought that comes to mind is wholeness, restoration, and good health.  Normally, we think of healing as it relates to the physical.  Our individual bodies, minds, and even emotions can be compromised by disease and disabilities causing us to cry out for healing.  Thank God that healing can also transcend an individual and touch interpersonal relationships, in particular the relationship between a husband and wife.

Countless times in our marriages we exist in very sick and toxic relationships which excrete feelings of bitterness, resentfulness, and anger.  The devil convinces couples that these wounds of distrust and misunderstandings are just normal dysfunctions.  Communication becomes strained and mean-spirited, leading to miscommunications and at times non-communication.  We become casualties in the war on marriage, not understanding each other's behavior, further causing a breech in the relationship with one another and God.  Proverbs 12:18 NIV says, "Reckless words pierce like a sword, but the tongue of the wise brings healing."  We need healing!  Healing that restores love, respect, compassion, and temperance.

To bring about healing, we must consult the Bible because it is the "well being" guide for our lives.  We need to see ourselves in the mirror of God's Word, asking Him to remove pride and selfishness. Prayer and worship also brings about a healing balm that soothes the body, spirit, and mind.  His presence cures all ills.  God's healing flows like water to thirsty crevices in dry land.  It will accomplish what it has been assigned to do: healing the mind so it can function with clarity to God's will, and healing the heart so His Word can go forth in love, compassion, and forgiveness.  A healed spirit causes the old nature to yield to God's spirit.  Psalms 107:20 NKJV says "He sent His word and healed them, and delivered them from their destructions." God's healing touch can transform and mend the secret broken places in the hearts of couples.  It is His desire that marriages survive and thrive.

If your marriage is broken, dysfunctional, or you are both living behind the devil's smokescreens please cry out for healing.  God can forgive, transform, and fortify your marriage.  Let the healing begin!

P.S.  Check out the weekly NIV e-Devotions For Couples starting in October.  Just a little inspirational boost to your week!

Take Your Do-Over

By Georgette Patterson

October is a month filled with "national" days. From national homemade cookies and taco days to national mother-in-law day, every day of the month observes a cause of some sort. October 17th is "National Mulligan Day".

In a game, a mulligan happens when a player gets a second chance to perform a certain move or action. This day was created as a day for giving yourself a second chance or, as some people call it, a "do-over". We can all think of something that at one point in time we have said "I wish I could do that over".

Each day, we have the opportunity at a "do-over". From 2 Corinthians 5:17 we know we have the ability to change - "Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; the old has gone, the new has come!"  This month celebrate "National Mulligan Day" and take your "do-over". Take the opportunity to give and ask for forgiveness. Go back and do the thing God called you to that you were too afraid to do. Make the changes in your life you wished you had.
