As seen in photo above: several young men living at Putnam Place, our residence for boys ages 16-21, attended a Celtics game thanks to corporate partner Thrive Networks. At Teens Learning Choices (TLC), our residence for girls ages 16-21, one young woman was just accepted to college; another resident successfully transitioned into our Independent Living (IL) program.
DDP recently held a beneficial training for parents and caregivers. The session was hosted by a loyal CFCS volunteer who's an attorney by profession, specializing in guardianship-related cases. The training outlined the necessary steps to become a legal guardian.
Jack, a 7-year-old boy legally adopted through CFCS in November 2014, is autistic and was non-verbal until very recently. He has made impressive progress since his adoption and is thriving in his new home. During a follow-up visit, his CFCS caseworker was overjoyed to witness Jack ask his mom a question, and just last week his parents reported he's now talking up a storm! Visit our homepage to see Jack and his forever family on the day of his adoption in our featured photos.
Family Support & Stabilization (FSS):
Two families were referred to CFCS when faced with the risk of losing their children to State care. In just a few months working with FSS, they displayed such progress that their cases were dismissed. Another mom in FSS landed her first full-time job with the support of her CFCS caseworker.
Intensive Foster Care (IFC):
Amy is a high school senior living in foster care whose positivity, ambition, and academic excellence earned her recent acceptance to a 4-year college! While the Massachusetts Department of Children and Families (DCF) covers tuition for children in State care, a number of expenses still stood in her way of enrolling. CFCS community partner Small Can Be Big posted Amy's story to their site and in less than 48 hours $1,000 was raised, making her dream a reality.
