Fall 2014 courses with the Rev. Matt Marino, Dr. Jennifer Snow
This fall, CDSP offers two courses in the theology and practice of youth ministry. Study on campus for four intensive weekends with the Rev. Matt Marino, youth officer in the Diocese of Arizona, or study online with Dr. Jennifer Snow, associate for discipleship ministries in the Diocese of California.
September 5-6, October 3-4, November 7-8, December 5-6
Instructor: The Rev. Matt Marino
In this course, open for academic credit or continuing education, students will develop and sharpen the theological, theoretical, and practical skills to connect young people to a lifelong Christian faith through local church communities. Students will explore how to create broad and deep structures, programs, and relationships to take youth from "un-churched and disinterested" to "committed Christian leadership."
Online September 22-November 10
Instructor: Dr. Jennifer Snow
What does it mean for young people to become "practicing Christians?" And how do we help nurture that practice? In this continuing education course, students will examine theological, developmental, sociological, and practical issues for ministry with youth, with special attention to connections between youth ministry, young adult ministry, and the challenges of continuing connection to church in an increasingly secular society.
